Irungu Safari Lodge offers comfortable accommodations in cottages located right inside Queen Elizabeth National Park. We stayed in a family cottage with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which suited us very well. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was good. The drive to the lodge takes you through the grounds of a local school, which is an interesting first glimpse of the surrounding area. Wi-Fi was available only in the restaurant. A major advantage is that the lodge directly arranges boat tours on the Kazinga Channel using its own boat—we especially recommend the sunset cruise; we had a great guide. The lodge is also an excellent base for activities in the surrounding area—safari drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park, visits to nearby salt lakes, trips to Lakes George and Edward, and a stop at the point where the Southern and Eastern Hemispheres meet. Overall, it’s a practical and pleasant place to stay, well-located for exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park. Since the lodge is located near a busy road, we recommend requesting a quieter cabin further away from the road.
