At 1 a.m., we dragged our suitcases to the ancient town. The owner was waiting for us at the entrance of the alley, holding a red lantern; he also prepared warm brown sugar ginger tea to help us ward off the cold. He helped us carry the luggage upstairs and patiently planned our route for the next day’s trip to the snow-capped mountains. This kind of warmth was even more intense than the sunshine in Lijiang.

Lanyee international hotel ligger i Kunming og har et treningsstudio, terrasse, restaurant og gratis WiFi over hele overnattingsstedet. Just a 15 minute ride from the Kunming airport and the hotel provides a nice new van for personal pick up and drop off. (By the way - you meet the hotel shuttle van 🚐 just 100 meters left of Arrivals Gate 1 as you walk out of the Kunming Airport). A great value and an extremely well appointed hotel room with very nice touches and great furnishings. Everything felt very new and clean and definitely one of the nicer 4 star hotels in the airport area. Good working AC and very helpful front desk staff - including Joyce who helped me with my WIFI. Breakfast is high quality but is mostly Chinese style (which I like) with Rice noodles 🍜 and a few hot Chinese dishes. Hotel 🏨 is in a little shopping area (with a bunch of other similar airport hotels) that have some tea shops and local restaurants. Great choice for a layover at the Kunming airport.

I Lijiang, 17 minutters gange fra Nanmen Bridge, ligger 熹宿 Xisu Designer Garden Inn, som har et treningsstudio, gratis privat parkering, en hage og en terrasse. The rooms were immaculate! Very cosy and comfortable stay, and the staff were fantastic. They made you feel at home and looked after you every step of the way. Cassie was amazing and helped us with tours, travel info, rides, and food recommendations. 100% will stay again if we are ever back in Lijiang

Tavern Hostel仁和客栈 ligger i Shangri-La og har en hage, fellesstue, restaurant og gratis WiFi over hele overnattingsstedet. Super cozy place, both the private room and dorms (tried both). In a quiet alley in the old town, serves good and fairly priced food and most of all very accommodating owners - helping and giving advice and also really nice to just talk with them. Would always book here when I’m in Shangri La.

I Dali, 4,6 kilometer fra Guanyin Hollow, ligger Blue Sea Hotel, som har en fellesstue, gratis privat parkering, en terrasse og en restaurant. Good location by the lake. The host and his mother were very kind to invite us to join them and their family for a New Year dinner which was wonderful. Breakfast was great.

Moon and Chalice Boutique Hotel har en gunstig plassering i Wuhua District i Kunming, 17 minutters gange fra Golden Horse and Jade Rooster, 1,6 kilometer fra Jiaosanqiao Station og 2,4 kilometer fra... The convenient location was our base for exploring the old streets filled with shops, stalls, restaurants, cafes, historical buildings, as well as new shopping malls across the main road. The friendly front counter lady gave suggestions on places to eat. We tried them and they were all great. The room was clean and comfortable. There’s ceiling heater to keep the shower area warm during winter.
