He helped us carry the luggage upstairs and patiently planned our route for the next day’s trip to the snow-capped mountains. This kind of warmth was even more intense than the sunshine in Lijiang.

(By the way - you meet the hotel shuttle van 🚐 just 100 meters left of Arrivals Gate 1 as you walk out of the Kunming Airport). A great value and an extremely well appointed hotel room with very nice touches and great furnishings. Everything felt very new and clean and definitely one of the nicer 4 star hotels in the airport area. Good working AC and very helpful front desk staff - including Joyce who helped me with my WIFI. Breakfast is high quality but is mostly Chinese style (which I like) with Rice noodles 🍜 and a few hot Chinese dishes. Hotel 🏨 is in a little shopping area (with a bunch of other similar airport hotels) that have some tea shops and local restaurants. Great choice for a layover at the Kunming airport.

The owner really looked after us well. Our stay was extremely comfortable. We booked the room with two beds and it was spacious and clean. They provide simple breakfast, it was yummy and homely. Location was superb, close to bike hire and China's tuktuk. We rented bikes based on the owner's recommendation for two consecutive days with great value. Two adult bikes and two kids bikes. The only thing I will note is that the shower does not drain quickly enough (so it pools), but this is very minor and did not impact our experience at all. At first glance, we thought it would be difficult to get food. But this is not the case. There are many eateries available within a short walking distance. The Moon and Chalice Hotel ia great place to stay. It is in the middle of the old town and it is a charming hotel. An ideal place for a honeymoon, a romantic place for a single and for a couple. There is no breakfast but just 50 meters to the right and to the left you can buy an excellent Yunman Small Coffee bean espresso or latte and a good Chinese breakfast. I highly recommend the hotel.
