The Hotel de la Poste is much more than a place to rest—it's a living testament to Avallon’s vibrant history. Founded centuries ago as a stop for travelers and dignitaries alike, the hotel has hosted everyone from literary figures to royalty. Its walls echo with stories of grand celebrations and whispered secrets, giving every guest the sense of stepping into a narrative that continues to unfold. The rooms at Hotel de la Poste are a masterclass in blending historical charm with contemporary luxury. Each suite is individually decorated, featuring elegant French furnishings, sumptuous fabrics, and thoughtful touches that evoke a sense of timeless beauty. Modern amenities—such as high-speed Wi-Fi, climate control, and a state-of-the-art bathroom—were seamlessly integrated, offering every comfort without sacrificing character. A particularly memorable encounter was meeting Julien at his antique shop, Maison des Brocanteurs. Dining at Le 1815, the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant, was an unforgettable highlight. Le 1815 delivers culinary artistry at its finest. The sense of family and welcome permeated every interaction, making my husband and me feel not just like a guest, but cherished friends.

This Harry Potter themed apartment was just oozing with character. It kept us all so entertained looking at all the little bits and bobs. So much thought and attention to detail has gone into every piece in the property. The beds were so comfortable, the apartment is really spacious with everything you need and the bathroom all brand new and beautifully done. In fact the whole place is finished to an excellent standard. Avallon is a beautiful place too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We only wish we were there longer. Marco & Marine are wonderful hosts - very friendly and provided all the information I needed. We highly recommend this fabulous place.

Excellent location, clean, spacious & comfortable apartment with healthy amount of sunlight & everything we need to prepare meals in the kitchenette. Ophelie was superb, fast in responding & even extended a hand to help with some logistic difficulties we faced. This is among the best lodging we have been in the 15 years of traveling in nearly 40 countries

Patricia was a wonderful host. Her house is beautiful, very tastefully decorated and she is so welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our night with her.

The host it's very accommodating- we're arrived at night and there was no problem to get the keys at this late hour. Appartment was very clean. What's the real treat- appartment is situated in a historalical building, just in front of the cathedral, truly exceptional!
