The place was so close of Basildon, our next destination. We didn't know when we were coming but Rose was so lovely and welcome us with a warm hello just as family. It's exactly how I felt there. At home and Rose was so helpful and nice !

We stayed overnight at Old Hunters Lodge as it was close to Whipsnade Zoo and we wanted an early start at the zoo the next morning. The property was perfectly located for that, it was easy to get a cab from Luton Station to the location. The hotel itself was lovely, the room was charming. While it was a little loud being under the flight path for luton, we both managed to sleep with our headphones on and we are light sleepers. The staff were exceptional, friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Prior to my stay I received a message from Louise and John asking if I wanted to book a table for dinner as we were arriving on Valentine’s Day and it would be busy. I really appreciated them taking that step to ensure we would have a table for dinner on the night we arrived. Dinner was lovely, I was a bit nervous as I am allergic to mushrooms and most of the valentines menu included mushrooms but they made sure my main didn’t include mushrooms. The portions were massive and the food was very good. Breakfast the next morning was also very good and fast, there were lots of options for cooked breakfast as well as juice and cereal for self service and hot drinks from the bar. Overall this was a great stay and I could easily see myself coming back.

He was very fruendky and helpful. There were also instructions for appliances if needed. While small, everything we needed was in the studio. The kitchen had a large fridge freezer, oven, hotplates, microwave, a good selection of cookware, crockery and cutlery. Teas, coffees, hot chocolate, milk sachets, butter, jams and biscuits were supplied. There was a dishwasher and washer/dryer. There were plenty of toiletries, tissues, etc. We parked our car in the driveway.

Natalie and Ray are the most wonderful hosts at The Handywater Cottages in Lower Assendon.We stayed on 2 occasions with them enjoying beautiful peaceful surroundings. Room was exceptional,clean and just lovely with fresh flowers in a vase.Everything worked like swiss clock and Natalie is Master Chef!!! I had my own restaurant for many years so l know genuine and excellent food( eggs from happy hens running around)We can't praise them enough.Its perfect disstance from Henley-on-Thames and when we mentioned taxi ,Ray offered to drop us off ,the most kind Always smiling and waiving if we seen them from distance.Natalie makes her own jewelery ,absolutely gorgeous ( and preserves and jams,perfect souvenir or gift)We loved it there!
