A superb and very different place to stay. Really away from it all with excellent facilities. Every meal was a joy and the friendly staff could not have been more helpful. Spotless room and nothing was too much trouble.

In the Rio Dulce river near a 16th century castle the Tortugal Boutique River Lodge peninsula is bathed by almost constant on shore breezes providing a cool and refreshing place. Good food, comfortable beds and a great atmosphere all around. Angela is a real star in this place, she was very kind to me and my partner whom was not feeling well. Thank you so much for your help.

Set in Puerto Barrios, Hotel Posada Stella Maris offers a shared lounge. With a garden, the 5-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. Ollie was exceptionally kind and well connected to get us help with transportation. She is also a great cook. Don Luis was the taxi driver that she connected is with. He is a very honest man. He drove back to the facility to return my phone and charger that I left in the taxi. Funds from this place go to support underprivileged individuals attain working skills.

Casa Caribe Hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a private beach area and shared lounge in Rio Dulce. Wonderful hotel right on the waterfront with a view of the castle. The building is very nice and well maintained. The staff is very helpful. Enrique is the best. The menu is simple but suitable for a few days. Rio Dulce is a 5-minute boat ride away. The sunset is amazing.

Hostal Blood Moon is situated in Rio Dulce and has a plunge pool and pool views. This guest house features free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Beautiful space, I could have easily spent a longer time. The kitchen area is spacious and overall everything feels nice and airy. Flor, the host, is very kind. She was awake to let me in when I arrived past midnight, made us all pancakes and coffee in the morning, and let me keep my stuff for a few hours after check out.

Situated in Rio Dulce, 5.5 km from Castillo de San Felipe de Lara, Hotel Real del Rio features views of the pool. Great location with restaurants nearby. Staff is friendly, nice and helpful.

Hotel Kangaroo y Restaurante has a garden, shared lounge, a restaurant and bar in Rio Dulce. The accommodation features room service, a concierge service and currency exchange for guests. Cool little secluded spot. Can only vouch for the doorm room, which was simple but nice. No fans or ac, but located on the 3rd floor with open windows, and the temperature at night was on point. Friendly staff and a good relaxed vibe away from traffic. Flexible with the boat transfer if you willing to chip in a few bucks for the gas and service

Set in Rio Dulce, 6.2 km from Castillo de San Felipe de Lara, Hotel Hacienda Tijax Jungle Logde offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. Excellent wooden cabin room, very cozy and comfortable, enough space and amenities. Location is fantastic and feels very much like part of the jungle. There's even a crocodile in the creek flowing through the finca and joining Rio Dulce. The hotel has its own landing and you can do a great boat trip down to Livingston or up to the lake. Very reasonable price for a great lodging experience. Stayed an extra night!
