The onsen was amazing and the overall decor of the hotel was great!

The atmosphere in the hotel is wonderful if you seek tranquility and relaxation. The Onsen was just great and we used it everday. Also the food quality was exceptionell (Kaiseki style). We were 100% satisfied with our stay.

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. The staff was just incredibly nice. We got a handwritten note welcoming us and even got a free dinner for New Years Eve. Also the accommodation was really modern and well equipped and really had a lot of character with many manga novels and Ghibli merchandise in the common rooms.

Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama. Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience. This Ryokan is exceptional. So clean and well appointed. The family are so friendly and helpful. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We loved our dinner in the dining room that we booked in advance. We were very fortunate to be visiting at Christmas time and the Christmas dinner had so much thought and time put into it, making it a very memorable meal and stay for our family.

Many extras: inside and outside onsen, winter hanten to borrow, origami sets, complimentary sake and plum wine, … The location is good, next to the station and walking distance from the old town.
