The Japanese design of the hotel is very nice, the location is great and there is a feeling of young atmosphere. There is an onsen separated for men and women. During afternoon and evening they give drinks for free including sake and beers.

600 metres from Shirakawago, Shirakawago Guest House Kei is set in Shirakawa and offers rooms with free WiFi. All rooms feature a kitchen and a shared bathroom. This place is amazing, the owner is very friendly, helpful and speaks English! The place is very clean, sleek and new. There are some snacks and other drinks available to purchase, they have tea and coffee for free. The room has a shower room (may be a little bit small if you are on the bigger side) and a very modern toilet. The necessary amenities were provided in the room and there's a small fridge and many outlets to charge your electronics(super convenient!) I arrived before the check in time and the owner let us check in earlier to leave our things in the room. Since it's mid November it's very cold at night, the owner was very attentive and thoughtful, he asked us how the temperature was in the room and if we were cold and helped us regulate it to be cozy. There's a really nice restaurant 5-6 minutes walking distance from the guest house and the scenery is simply beautiful. A little down side would be that it's 18-20 minutes walking distance to the bus terminal, there's also a bus stop very close by (like 3-4 min walking distance) and available at certain times that you can take to the bus terminal and vice versa. This is not a deal breaker personally, since I like to see the scenery and neighborhood of the places I visit. I recommend this place and would consider staying here again if I visit Shirakawa again in the future.

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. Guest House Ouka offers everything you would expect from a well-run guesthouse. The reception staff speak fluent English, which made the check-in process smooth and easy from the start. The dorm rooms are large and very spacious, with plenty of room to organize luggage. Each guest has a big locker and a dedicated space to hang clothes, which is very convenient. The shower facilities are also spacious and spotless, and the kitchen and common areas are equally clean and comfortable. Overall, it offers excellent value for money and is a perfect choice for staying in Takayama.

Exceptional services. Tucked right in the city, hence it's very walkable and close to everything. We definitely want to come back here next time in Takayama.

L'Oyado Koto No Yume es troba a 2 minuts a peu de l'estació de Takayama i ofereix habitacions d'estil japonès amb un toc de color. Aquest ryokan, ens va proporcionar una entranyable experiència d'allotjament tradicional, amb una espaiosa habitació de tatami, ús de yukata que et proporcionava l'allotament, i també de kimonos. El personal molt amable i atent.
