This was a great introduction to a ryokan experience. While it’s part of a chain, it still felt authentic. Very spacious rooms, impeccable cleanliness. The onsen is one of the best we’ve experienced, with a view of ghe mountains. The food was so generous, prepared with the highest level of attention to sourcing local ingredients, respecting seasonal produce, and balancing flavors. This was a really lovely stay.

It made me want to visit Takayama again just because of this hotel. First, not only the exterior architecture, which beautifully blends traditional Japanese style with modern design, but also the guest rooms offer a unique Zen-style experience. In particular, the Takayama solid wood furniture and the overall atmosphere of the lobby make the entire trip feel even more special. Second, the location is perfect. Situated right in Takayama’s historic district, it allows you to enjoy the streets early in the morning and also conveniently return to the hotel to rest during the day. It was incredibly comfortable. Third, complimentary sake and draft beer are served in the lobby from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. With just a few light snacks, it was wonderful to relax and spend the entire evening comfortably at the hotel. During this stay, we were especially happy to experience a New Year’s countdown event in the lobby together with the owner and other guests. Wonderful place, super clean and close to Takayama train station. Super nice staff. Loved the onsen and the size of the room. They give you traditional slippers and kimonos to wear in the facility. Fantastic experience.
