This was a great introduction to a ryokan experience. While it’s part of a chain, it still felt authentic. Very spacious rooms, impeccable cleanliness. The onsen is one of the best we’ve experienced, with a view of ghe mountains. The food was so generous, prepared with the highest level of attention to sourcing local ingredients, respecting seasonal produce, and balancing flavors. This was a really lovely stay.

The location is right in the old town but yet the interior is modern. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They give free drinks from 5pm .

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. It was very nicely decorated and spacious also the staff was very nice.

Hotel Oyado Koto No Yume je od železniške postaje Takayama oddaljen le 2 min hoda. The hosts did a lot to accommodate us and gave a very good service. We received some tea on arrival and some nice gifts upon departure and during our stay we could taste local sake and plum wine.

Nestled in the tranquil Hida Mountains, Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort offers traditional accommodation featuring hot spring baths and nature views. A really beautiful hotel with many details thought of. So many complimentary things offered which really enhance your stay from the robes and slippers you change into when you arrive, ice lollies after the onsen, noodles in the evening, marshmallows for roasting on the terrace, it feels like the staff really want to go the extra mile to surprise and delight you. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the onsens themselves an amazing experience that we all loved, even our children age 10,12 and 14 enjoyed them. The food was very traditional and incredibly special with exceptional presentation. The dinner is expensive but a real treat for the senses. I highly recommend the breakfasts as well. We took the bus to Kamikochi for easy hiking/walking which was perfect. All in all the most perfect start to our Japanese adventure. I’m so glad we had some time in the mountains before Kyoto and Tokyo. Most staff speak some English but google translate is helpful if you need to say more than the basics!

Cozy,clean,nice taste for everything,they pick me up at late night,and sand me away in the morning as I’m a solo traveler.They try their best to let me feel at home and let me know I’m so welcomed,not because of I’m Chinese,but a human being.Thank you for such an open mind and warm heart.
