Boasting hot spring baths in a spectacular outdoor setting by Takaragawa River, Japanese-style hotel Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku is a 10-minute drive from Hodaigi Ski Resort. Beautiful outdoor hot spring, and the mixed-gender lets you enjoy it with your significant other :) it really helps that the place picks you up and drops you off from/to nearby train stations, making it very accessible. Dinner and breakfast was mostly traditional with some modern elements, so it feels genuine but at the same time not too foreign.

There was private onsen, amazing kitchen facilities, and really great rooms as well as the living room having Japanese kotatsu to keep us warm

I Minakami, 36 kilometer fra Gala Yuzawa vintersportanlegg, ligger Tanigawa Valley Lodge & Coffee Roastery, som har gratis sykler, gratis privat parkering, en hage og en fellesstue. We had such a wonderful time at Tanigawa Valley Lodge & Coffee Roastery. Staying here felt more like visiting a friend than checking into a lodge. Craig and his family are genuinely lovely… warm, generous, and full of helpful local insights. From day one, Craig helped us plan everything: hiking routes, the best nearby restaurants, even the local swimming spot his family visits daily. He even pointed out interesting local wildlife, which added a special touch to our nature walks. The rooms were super comfortable, breakfast was a delight, and the coffee… well, it lives up to the “roastery” in the name. Truly some of the best we’ve had in Japan. We’re already talking about coming back in winter to experience the area’s skiing. Highly recommended.

I Kiryu, 35 kilometer fra Kumagaya rugbystadion, ligger Okiya Guest House & Tapas Bar, som har en hage, gratis privat parkering, en fellesstue og en restaurant. Okiya is a warm and welcoming ryokan ran by a lovely couple that treated me like their own. Feel free to ask any requests from them, including ebike rentals and tours. Do be sure to let them know in advance so they can plan and prepare. Kiryu is a wonderful place full of history, and this former geisha house fits right in. Aside from touring the city, an evening spent getting to know both the hosts and the house can be an attraction too!

I Kusatsu, 46 kilometer fra Jigokudani apepark, ligger Oyado Yukizumi, som har gratis WiFi og gratis privat parkering. Overnattingsstedet ligger 14 kilometer fra Mt. next to the car park and bus terminal, walking distance to all attractions. Excellent service, staffs are very friendly and always smile on the face. They will bring the breakfast to your room.

I Takasaki, 28 kilometer fra Usui jernbanemuseum, ligger Ryutakuzenji 宿坊, som har gratis sykler, gratis privat parkering, en hage og en fellesstue. Very rural and quiet. Ten out of ten!

I Kusatsu, bare 45 kilometer fra Jigokudani apepark og 14 kilometer fra Mt. Kusatsu Shirane ligger Kusatsu Hotel Bekkan Wata no Yu (Adult Only). Beautiful Hotel, very nice staff and very well located in Kusatsu
