The Joint, a property with barbecue facilities, is set in Hakuba, 9.2 km from Tsugaike Kogen Ski Area, 43 km from Nagano Station, as well as 45 km from Zenkoji Temple. This 2-star bed and breakfast offers private check-in and check-out and a shared lounge. There is an outdoor fireplace and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. The Joint Hakuba was an amazing place to stay, and I couldn’t recommend it enough, especially as a solo traveller. It’s very easy to meet people here, with a great mix of chill and party vibes. While there aren’t organised events, it was super easy to meet people in the dorms and common areas and head out together for food and drinks. The staff were absolutely amazing, super friendly, welcoming, and easy to chat with. They were also really helpful with transport advice, food recommendations, and suggestions for places to ride and visit around Hakuba. The dorms were really nice and well set up. The beds were super comfortable, with plenty of storage under the bunks and privacy curtains, which was a great touch. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. The bathrooms and showers were modern, spacious, and spotless. The common area was also very clean and cosy, and the fireplace at night was a highlight. The location is excellent, super close to Echoland main street with heaps of food and drink options nearby. It’s also very close to multiple bus stops that make getting to all the resorts easy. There’s a short walk to both 7-Eleven and Lawson, a short walk to the main town, and plenty of rental shops close by. Despite being so close to the main street, it was quiet at night and easy to sleep. It wasn’t overcrowded, and the rooms were warm with heaters in both the dorms and common areas. The Joint is perfect for solo travellers, first-timers to Hakuba, and anyone looking for a social stay in a super convenient location. I’d 100% stay here again.

This bed and breakfast provides free private parking and free shuttle service. The accommodation offers free WiFi throughout the property, as well as a terrace and a family-friendly restaurant. Summer Leaves was a truly wonderful and unique place to stay, and our hosts, Mary and Mickey, are incredibly kind and warm people. When we arrived in Hakuba, Mary picked us up from the station. We chatted a little, and I mentioned how highly rated their place was and how excited I was to stay there. She laughed and said something like, “Oh yeah, people really seem to enjoy staying with us—the reviews keep getting longer!” After our stay, I completely understand why, because I also feel the urge to write a long review. We had a bit of bad luck with the weather. The week we were there was unusually warm, very little snow had fallen in December, and large parts of several resorts were closed. Even so, staying at Summer Leaves was the absolute highlight of our trip. Mary, Mickey, and all the volunteers were so kind and welcoming that, even though our stay was short, we felt like we had been welcomed into their little family. Every day after skiing, we would come back and chat, hang out, and talk about all sorts of things. One evening, we even went to an onsen together. We were invited to celebrate Christmas night with everyone and enjoyed real Chinese food for the first time (we don’t really have authentic Chinese food in the Netherlands) and it was delicious. They also taught us how to play mahjong, which was incredibly fun—we’ve already bought our own set and are planning to teach our friends soon. Traveling is always an amazing experience, and we both love it dearly, but being away from home can sometimes be difficult. At Summer Leaves, however, we truly felt at home while on holiday. If we are ever lucky enough to return to Japan for skiing, we already know we would only stay at Summer Leaves—hopefully with better snow and many more nights of mahjong.

The property is around 700 metres from Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal and 1.2 km from Happo One Ski Resort. Chikako San and Koji San treat you as guests in their home. Their staff is the same way. The breakfast is simple and delicious. They are interested in your plans and guide you on things locally including making restaurant recommendations as well as bookings for you. They are very generous in dropping you and collecting you for various purposes including the bus stop, the Happo slopes and restaurants. My daughter accidentally left her jacket somewhere and Koji San collected it for us without hesitation. Overall, I'd happily come here again.

Good breakfast and dinner. So we don't have to eat out. Quite enough parking lot which is free of charge.
It is very close to Hakuba JR Station. You can walk a short distance each day to take the shuttle bus to the snow resort. The staff was very kind and the check-in process went very smoothly. The rooms are very large and feel perfect for 4 people, and the value for money is excellent. The view out of the room was excellent. There is a parking lot outside the hotel.
Location! Only 6mins walk from Hakuba bus terminal and ski bus pick up for all resorts. Restaurant and supermarket are all within 10mins walk. Ski rental Woody’s only 4mins. Private onsen was relaxing and cheaper compared to other places in Hakuba. Rooms are spacious & clean. Hotel offers free pick up and drop off from Hakuba train station. There is ski room to leave your skis and snow board free of charge & free parking. Breakfast had variety of western and Asian food which was substantial.
The location is good because we can take that shuttle bus from the parking parking lot number three to go to Goryu and Happo One resort. Walking to the bus terminal is not far. And we can also walk to Nakiyama lift station in 5 minutes. Onsen is also good.
