It’s a very traditional Japanese style, startup at 1899 which has over 125 years history. The interior was revamped, we enjoy the peaceful and friendly service from the staffs. Hotel’s location is excellent, next to the entrance of the Nara Park. They also offer a traditional Japanese Mocha Tea, in a tea room as a welcome drink, we love it very much. You can request in room massage service, there are 40mins / 60mins two options. The price is reasonable.

Located within 7.2 km of Iwafune Shrine and 10 km of Nozaki Kannon Shrine, Shionome house provides rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Ikoma. This place is just amazing. Most friendly and helpful host. The house is traditional Japanese style and gives a very homely feeling. It’s walking distance from the station and very calm place. Definitely recommend.

Situated in Nara, 1.7 km from Nara Station, Novotel Nara features accommodation with a fitness centre, private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Novotel Nara is a lovely hotel. Our room was spacious although not much space for clothes. It however had everything else you needed. I lovely the onsen area and massage chairs we could use. The staff were very helpful and was lovely how they decorated the room for my husbands birthday.

The onsen is private and completely tattoo friendly, you simply close the door and enjoy the bath all to yourself. Thoughtful toiletries are provided both in the bathing area and in your room, along with comfortable yukatas and even traditional socks for the evening. There is so much heart in this ryokan: in every detail, in every gesture, and in every smile, even in the little dog who greets you upon arrival. From your room, you can admire a lovely view of the city, surrounded by the peaceful mountain where the ryokan rests, and even enjoy the charming cable car ride that takes you up the hillside.

The hotel is a great place to stay, a real recommandation. It is in a renovated historic building in a cute street with traditional houses (one of the main attractions in Gojo) parallel to the riverfront, you can walk along. The room was modern, spacious and very confortable with a riverside view. There is also a nice communal space with all the facilities, where you can make breakfast or dinner. The owner was very kind and helpful with suggesting and reserving places to eat and to sightsee. The place is nicely located in between and not far from attractions such as the temples at Koyasan, the blossoms at Yoshino, and archaeological sites at Akusa.

Fairfield by Marriott Nara Tenri Yamanobenomichi is located in Tenri, within 13 km of Nara Station and 28 km of Iwafune Shrine. Very clean room with a nice view of the lake.

Located in Kashihara, 20 km from Nara Station and 28 km from Subaru Hall, 古民家民泊かえるて offers a garden and air conditioning. Wonderful stay at this B&B in Kashihara! The owners were incredibly kind, even taking me cherry blossom viewing in Asuka Village. The location is quiet yet convenient, with a supermarket and convenience store nearby. I borrowed a bicycle from the owner to explore charming Imai-chō village with its beautiful old buildings and cafes and shops - a highlight of my trip! From Miwa Station, it's easy to hike the historic Yamanobe-no-michi trail to Tenri. Loved that too.

Set within 29 km of Subaru Hall and 40 km of Saifuku-ji Temple in Gojō, 奈良五條の宿 彩 irodori Private lodging features accommodation with seating area. Wonderful immediate surroundings and lots to explore in the area. Gojo is a nice little town surrounded by nature and all facilities you might need. We had our own little rental car making it easy to get around. When you have to rely on public transportation your options are more limited. Property itself was very nice with nice facilities and all taken care of wonderfully by Miyuki.

ゲストハウス奈良庵 Nara An, a property with a shared lounge, is situated in Nara, 5.9 km from Nara Station, 13 km from Iwafune Shrine, as well as 17 km from Nippon Christ Kyodan Shijonawate Church. If we could give Hariko (a Nara native) and Dane (from Washington State) a 100 ⭐s we would! Great location within a 10 minute walk to the train station that will connect you to many wonderful places. The accommodations are comfortable and public spaces inviting. Be sure to include breakfast - while a continental breakfast is available the traditional Japanese (our choice) was tasty and filling.
