Boasting a garden and views of mountain, Urasa Cottage @ Snow Countryside is a recently renovated country house situated in Minami Uonuma, 29 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort. The host made our check in easy, the house was lovely, everything you would need, clean and quiet. Offstreet parking was a bonus, and his recommendation for a meal was perfect 10/10

Located in Sado, ホステルたつみや features a garden, shared lounge, terrace, and free WiFi. Very new and clean, dorm bed was comfortable and warm. Staff spoke some English and were super friendly. They provided parking at the cafe across the street when I told them I was renting a scooter. You can use the kitchen to store food in the fridge and prepare meals - cutlery and pots/pans are included. The hostel is a 30 minute bus ride from Ryotsu Port and is walking distance to a supermarket and the beach.

Set in Sado, Rosencat offers accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a hot tub. Great value, super cute friendly cats, and the owner gave us such good recommendations!

Offering a garden and river view, Noka Minshuku Sanzen is situated in Tokamachi, 24 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort and 47 km from Naeba Ski Resort. We are so glad to find this gem! The hosts, including the cat, Mame, were most kind, warm, and hospitable. We went to the restaurants that they recommended. Ichihiro was superb, so good that we went twice! The host drove us there and back so that we could enjoy sake. The place is just lovely - the decor, the space. Everything works well. Heating was great as the weather turned cold. Appreciate the washing machine too. Despite the language barrier, we communicated well. Sincerely appreciate the oranges and persimmons that they gave us. They were so delicious!
