We participated in the morning ritual of Shingon Buddhism at the temple. The service is basically in Japanese but I'm sure it will be an unforgettable experience even if you don't understand the language. They kindly explained the essence of Shingon teaching and how this temple stay was established. After the ritual, we had Buddhist breakfast together. It is located in a small community with a view of rice fields and green mountains. If you wish to stay in a unique quiet place in Sado and to get in touch with the local people, this is the perfect place to stay.

A recently renovated apartment, NIPPONIA Sado 佐渡相川 金山町 offers accommodation in Sado. The apartment has family rooms. The host is very friendly and welcoming. We were lead to the hotel directly from where we parked. The room we stayed is called "Kura" with an ancient storage design integrated with the room. The breakfast is great with local ingredients and a beautiful bento carrier. The host also helped us to book dinner and make changes for our ferry tickets.
