Everything was very clean, the facilities were modern and well-equipped, and I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The personnel is very kind and helpful. I greatly appreciated the possibility to borrow a well-maintained good quality road bike. The island is a cycling paradise.

Hiroko-san has been so lovely and helpful in welcoming us and sharing with us the places to visit and eat. We visited all the sushi places she recommended for dinner and they are spectacular. She even helped us reserved the dinner at a local sushi restaurant for our last night and it was one of the best dinners we ever had. Her Guesthouse is super clean and spacious and the beds r so comfortable. And most of all the lovely cats that accompanied us. We miss them!

It was comfortable with airco and renovated modern bathroom. You will be welcomed by a super lovely gentle Akita dog called Sun. We participated in the morning ritual of Shingon Buddhism at the temple. The service is basically in Japanese but I'm sure it will be an unforgettable experience even if you don't understand the language. They kindly explained the essence of Shingon teaching and how this temple stay was established. After the ritual, we had Buddhist breakfast together. It is located in a small community with a view of rice fields and green mountains. If you wish to stay in a unique quiet place in Sado and to get in touch with the local people, this is the perfect place to stay.

NIPPONIA Sado 佐渡相川 金山町 ligger i Sado. Du har tilgang til gratis WiFi over hele overnattingsstedet. The host is very friendly and welcoming. We were lead to the hotel directly from where we parked. The room we stayed is called "Kura" with an ancient storage design integrated with the room. The breakfast is great with local ingredients and a beautiful bento carrier. The host also helped us to book dinner and make changes for our ferry tickets.
