Our stay at Unsui was one of our top rated experience in Japan. The hosts Satomi and Hal were kind and welcoming. We spent the New Year's Eve in here and they served us Japanese traditional New Year's breakfast and also the onsen yudofu hot pot dish, which made our stay extra special. You could easily tell they poured lots of love and care into all the food and drinks they served, even onto the utensils they used. The design, paintings, displays and all the small details of the whole building and the rooms were just aesthetic and pleasant to look at. Beds were comfortable and the whole apartment was very clean and relaxing. We saw the snowing from the windows and the view really calmed our souls. Location is really good as well. Unsui sat at a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood, right next to the public hot spring Takeo Onsen, and it was a nice walk to all the attractions and the train station. Satomi also gave us good recommendation to all the nearby attractions from this area to some of the nearby towns. Overall, cannot rate this place even higher, hopefully we could go back for a second time.

So cool to stay in an old, traditional house, which had everything we needed. Owner was super friendly and even had some free pottery we were welcome to take. (And he had great suggestions for where to eat nearby and even left us some instant ramen to eat, if we got hungry.) The futon heaters were great and definitely needed when a cold wind storm blew in!

Ubytování jsem si opravdu moc užil. Měl jsem bohužel špatné počasí, takže jsem trávil víc času uvnitř, ale hostel je velmi útulný a cítil jsem se tu skvěle. Komunikace byla perfektní a opravdu oceňuji, že jsem po check-outu mohl ještě chvíli zůstat v kuchyni – hodně mi to pomohlo, nemusel jsem čekat v dešti na nádraží. Děkuji!

I booked a room here as I was traveling to Japan to play a Pokemon Go event in Nagasaki. I had a wonderful time in this house and the charming, little town it is in. It’s like staying in a beautiful, ancestral home of a Japanese family. I actually lowered my expectations for a bit because it’s not a hotel, but even then I was surprised by how well-kept, sparkly clean everything is. I shared the house with 3 other guests who are also in Japan to play Pokemon Go, and yet I didn’t see a single strand of hair left in the bathroom, a smidge of stain in the toilet, and I didn’t hear noise at night. It’s family-run and they do everything by themselves. I was coming in from Fukuoka Airport and it took me a while to figure out the trains and the transfers I would take to get to Kashima and arrived late at 8:30PM, it’s way past check in time but even then I had a warm welcome from the owner, Mr Maru. He showed me where the restaurants are, which places to visit, where the nearest 7-eleven is. He even let me in the staff-only area of the kitchen when he noticed that I brought dinner that I needed to reheat from 7-eleven. In the morning I met his older sister in the kitchen and she made me breakfast. She showed me where Yutoku Inari shrine is which I planned to visit on that day. I rented a bicycle at the Hizen-Hama station which is just like 150 meters from the house and biked around Kashima, ate Mikan ice cream, until I reached Yutoku Inari shrine. It is an amazing place. In the evening when I returned the bike at Hizen-Hama station, I went to its Sake bar which serves all the sake this little town produces and I was warmly welcomed even though I don’t speak a word of Nihongo. I tried all the types of sake that they have as I knew I can get smashed and still find my way home because the house is just a stone’s throw away from the station. Overall I had a pretty amazing experience and would gladly visit again.

The best customer service during my whole stay in Kyushu. Inoue-Sama In the reception was truly helpful, and took his time to make me feel comfortable. It is not common to receive service in English in Kyushu, but the Karatsu seaside hotel surpised me positively. A big recommendation for the breakfast hand made Onigiris with your preferences. The room with the ocean view was excellent and I truly felt like a high end traveller. This was my first destination after flying from europe, sot he Onsen (spa) that included in the room price was super relaxing. I visited there on both of my stays. The small details makes this one of the best hotels I have been. Complimentary cake service, ice cream at the Onsen area. Coupon for the souvenir and snack shop, bicycles, the breakfast that you could enjoy for days and still not be able to taste everything... I wish I could come here again.

The owner was super kind and friendly. We loved the place. The private room and shared spaces were cozy. There was a bath tab. It was quiet at night. The location was 30min walk from Arita Station, but there is a bus stop near the guesthouse. There are many pottery shops and is a shrine with Torii made by Arita ceramics within a walkable distance.

I liked the room with the view of the mountains and how peaceful it was . The room was clean . The staff is professional and helpful . The breakfast was good too .
