The staff were really friendly and made us feel at home, the location was excellent and central, and the room was clean and comfortable. The snacks were a great touch after a long day of travel. We will definitely love to stay again in the future.

Well worth the effort to travel to experience a lovely ryokan, it's host and the town. I paid for dinner and I'm SO glad I did. It was a highlight of my stay and in deed a highlight of my 5 week trip in Japan. You sit in a sunken seating area and watch the ryokan owner/cook prepare what felt like a large number of individual dishes. The food was absolutely delicious. I was concerned about hearing other guests because, being an older house, the walls are thin - but the night I was there all the guests were respectfully quiet. I had a view over the "river" which may be a mis-nomer - but it is a peaceful stream running through the pretty street. I highly recommend a visit.

For the price, you get the entire place for your travel group (which is quite big). There are also bicycles available that can be used (really enjoyed biking around near the rice patties)

This Ryokan is full of character. Great hospitality from the owner - they are very friendly and made sure our stay was comfortable and provided good dinner recommendations. Having an onsen in the ryokan is a huge bonus - this is probably the highlight of our stay. Authentic Japanese breakfast served. The location is near the train station making sites around Lake Biwa accessible. We're so glad we stayed here.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. In room Onsen was a great bonus. Tatami and futon was comfortable. Public onsen with cold bath and outdoor bath and barrel sauna were excellent. Kaiseki dinner was great. Nice buffet spread.
