Wonderful stay, beautiful facilities and very hospitable staff. Loved the room and the spaceous bathroom and bath. The views are great on each floor and from the balcony I could even see the Hikone castle. Wonderful sunset too. Dinner and breakfast were plenty and very tasty. Lived the sakura mousse dessert and french toast for breakfast. They also offered wine on the 10th floor and soba after onsen visit. Onsen was amazing, the outside pool had a great view straight on the lake. Stayed there about 3 hours in the evening, very relaxing. They also oranized a tranfer to Maibara eki, no stress when leaving the hotel for shinkansen. Souvenir shop.had some beautiful art, so had to grab a couple of chopaticks holders and postcards as well before leaving.

TOKI NO YADO, a property with a garden, is located in Nakanogō, 33 km from Green Park Santo, 37 km from Maibara Station, as well as 42 km from Okuibuki Ski Area. Seven of us had a great time together. It was a great experience for us all.

Set in Nagahama, 14 km from Hikone Castle, Machiya no Yado Iroha offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a restaurant. The property is located in a unique neighborhood, close to shops and restaurants. It is also a walking distance from the Nagahama Castle and the Biwako. The room was very spacious and well equipped, total silence during the night. The hotel also provided some mini bar snacks and cup ramen. The parking lot was easy to find and there were signs indicating where the reception was. We would totally come back for another visit!

Located in Nagaoka, 15 km from Hikone Castle, Guesthouse Izame Ann provides accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a shared lounge and a bar. Well worth the effort to travel to experience a lovely ryokan, it's host and the town. I paid for dinner and I'm SO glad I did. It was a highlight of my stay and in deed a highlight of my 5 week trip in Japan. You sit in a sunken seating area and watch the ryokan owner/cook prepare what felt like a large number of individual dishes. The food was absolutely delicious. I was concerned about hearing other guests because, being an older house, the walls are thin - but the night I was there all the guests were respectfully quiet. I had a view over the "river" which may be a mis-nomer - but it is a peaceful stream running through the pretty street. I highly recommend a visit.

Located in Otsu, within 12 km of Enryaku-ji Temple and 13 km of Mount Hiei, familie provides accommodation with a terrace as well as free private parking for guests who drive. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming. He prepared the home to be very clean and cozy for our arrival. When he took us to the train station, I absentmindedly forgot my bag at the house, and he went out of his way to drive back and bring it to me at the station—such a thoughtful gesture! The home itself was exceptionally clean and spacious, with a peaceful atmosphere and fresh air that my family absolutely loved. Thank you so much for hosting us!

Boasting garden views, 近江の町家 門 features accommodation with a garden and a balcony, around 37 km from Sanzen-in Temple. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. Well located and the historic neighborhood walking distance from almost every site. The bathroom building was very nice and modern and clean. The main house building was also very spacious and comfortable. The bikes were great for getting around town. And I absolutely loved the private Japanese garden in between the two buildings. even in the winter snow, it made it a delight to go back-and-forth between the two buildings to use the restroom or shower. I would have enjoyed staying another day. Thank you for offering such a restful and peaceful place to stay. I enjoyed my time here much more than I expected. It was lovely.

Onsen of course was great. Staff was exceptional.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Dinner was amazing and the staff and service was so attentive. Anzono our waiter for our dinner service went above and beyond. When one of us had to leave dinner before dessert to make their massage appointment, he offered and prepared a plate of the full dessert on a tray to be taken to the room for enjoyment afterwards.
