Staff was super helpful and helped me retrieve my dropped sock from the roof gutter. Loved the set dinner and breakfast spread was pretty good. Definitely enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

The staff were really friendly and made us feel at home, the location was excellent and central, and the room was clean and comfortable. The snacks were a great touch after a long day of travel. Well worth the effort to travel to experience a lovely ryokan, it's host and the town. I paid for dinner and I'm SO glad I did. It was a highlight of my stay and in deed a highlight of my 5 week trip in Japan. You sit in a sunken seating area and watch the ryokan owner/cook prepare what felt like a large number of individual dishes. The food was absolutely delicious. I was concerned about hearing other guests because, being an older house, the walls are thin - but the night I was there all the guests were respectfully quiet. I had a view over the "river" which may be a mis-nomer - but it is a peaceful stream running through the pretty street. I highly recommend a visit.

The rooms are beautiful and spacious, it is impeccably clean, and the meals are a delicious traditional feast. The hosts are very accommodating and thoughtful. We took the train to Omi-Iwazu and then rode back to Omi-Takashima, where we rented bikes to visit the Shirahige shrine. We also went to Makino to spend some time at the beach. Our entire group of five wished we had planned to stay for 2 or 3 nights instead of one. It was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the rest of our trip and we would hands down all choose to stay there again!

This is our first time in Japan and we landed straight for 4 nights in this great hotel. You get the full japanese experience when you land including traditional Japanese breakfasts and dinners, the dinners are amazing so take the half board. The rooms are big, beautiful and facilitated and the staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. It is located about 15 minutes by train outside of Kyoto but if you like to leave the crowds behind at night it's worth the commute.
