Absolutely recommend this place for your quiet getaway to Tsuwano.

Mori Chan picked me up from train station. Facilities and view was amazing. Such a peaceful space. Absolute bargain. Great stay in a lovely guesthouse. Emi, the host, was amazing! She was super friendly and welcomed us with some tea and sweets. She had great tips for stuff to do around Matsue (she recommended this beautiful sunset watching spot!) and was overall a very gracious host. The room was very large and we just had the nicest and most relaxing stay in a long 24-day exploration vacation in Japan.

Set in Yasugi, 26 km from Mizuki Shigeru Road, Shokinkan offers rooms with air conditioning and free WiFi. Shokinkan is a truly magical place operated by incredible people. Nestled in a gorgeous, ancient temple complex, the grounds are extremely fun to hike/explore during the day, with plenty of opportunities to learn about the history of the place through thoughtful signage and the wonderful staff. The food was absolutely delicious - we were eating a feast of unique foods specially prepared for us every evening and morning, which made the experience epic. Okami-san and everyone else here gregariously welcomed us with cups of beautiful matcha, and even shuttled us to and from Yasugi station and to the Adachi Museum of Art. I will never forget this place!
