This gives the hotel a very cozy feel despite its size. The staff is extraordinary. I never had to wait to talk to a staff member and they were very helpful. The onsen is one of the best I experienced in larger hotels like this. It is a very nice oasis to come back to after a long day. I particularly liked that they also have a sauna. The location is ideal. There are lots of restaurants and bars literally right outside the hotel, the lake and the castle are both just a short stroll away. If I come back to Matsue, I will stay here again for sure.

The hot spring experience was wonderful, offering various types of private baths. The welcome hospitality was thoughtful, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious and plentiful. The staff carefully explained the menu. They also serve supper, it’s so delicious.

The accommodation was beautiful and very clean, and the train station as well as the main sights were easily reachable by bus or on foot. A truly lovely little town with the best host imaginable! Our stay at 喜庵 KIAN the guest house by the castle was exceptional and a true delight. Located in a quiet alley in view of the Matsue Castle, our host Emi provided a warm welcome and was very helpful in suggesting (in English) interesting places to visit in the area. Our tatami room was clean and comfortable with AC and free WiFi. The kitchen provided a refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster oven, tea pot and tea, a table and chairs, and kitchen sink.
