The interior was really cozy and the hosts were extremely friendly. There’s also a cafe bar so you can get a coffee or night cap which was lovely. There’s also hosts also made great suggestions for places to go for dinner and trails we could go on a walk on. The breakfast was also delicious. Absolutely recommend this place for your quiet getaway to Tsuwano.

Inishie no Yado Keiun é um alojamento de 4 estrelas situado em Izumo, a 2,3 km de Praia de Inasa e a 5 minutos a pé de Shimane Museum of Ancient Izumo. Clean, quiet, great food, staff very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable, I loved the onsen in our room, and the self grinding coffee was excellent, beautifully decorated.

A menos de 1 km de Museu Memorial de Lafcadio Hearn, 喜庵 KIAN the guest house by the castle dispõe de acomodações de 2 estrelas em Matsue e apresenta um jardim. This is the perfect place to stay in Matsue. Great value, great place and a wonderful host. If both rooms are available, see item 3 below re the difference. Tip: it's worth spending 5 mins reading the helpful suggestions from other guests in the guestbook. 1. Location - excellent, central and walking distant from restaurants and bars, while being in a quiet location. If you're coming from the JR train/JR bus terminal, you'll need to take a bus (or taxi). Note that as at Dec 2025, Google unhelpfully doesn't tell you which of the many bus stops you need to catch your bus from - however, Navitime does. 2. Host - Emi is a proactive and welcoming host. She checked on us regularly and is bilingual in English so we had some lovely conversations. Her suggestions and those of her previous guests in her guestbook allowed us to have a really full and interesting 2 days based in Matsue. This included great bar/restaurant suggestions - Cafe Puente quite rightly comes up in many people's suggestions. 3. Rooms - there are two. The larger ones is upstairs, however for two people we found the downstairs one just fine. We decided to stay in the smaller downstairs room because we didn't want to go up and down the stairs. However, there were no other guests during the time we stayed. Note that the downstairs room is where the kitchen, showers and entrance area are. The upstairs room is more insulated and probably quieter if both rooms are occupied. However, while we stayed during mid-December, thanks to the heating on timers in the room and the kitchen, it was never too cold. 4. Facilities - we had breakfast in the kitchen and found it to be perfectly equipped for our needs. There are two bathrooms (each with a shower and toilet), which means that even if both rooms are occupied, there would always be a shower and toilet available for each room. The shower had good pressure and temperature.

The food was exceptional - very fresh, local, beautifully prepared and presented, a new menu every day. The location is superb, particularly with the autumn foliage. This is a classic ryokan in a temple complex in the hills. Surrounded by vegetation. Just very beautiful. And the staff were so friendly and helpful.

The box for breakfast is printed some local words and you can learn some local languages from it. Our seats capture the beauty of Lake Shinji. It’s a very pleasant stay.
