The guesthouse was a perfect launch point for seeing the historic sites in the area, and the host was incredibly helpful and courteous. It was remote, but felt like a luxury ski cabin in the woods.

Guesthouse Iwase is set in Toyama, 2.2 km from Toyama-kō and 14 km from Toyama Family Park. We were happy to be walking distance to the beach on a hot day. The location is very accessible by transit. We loved how quiet the area was. The neighbours were very friendly - we ended up watching fireworks with both the host and the neighbours. There was an unexpected festival we came across (Minato), and it was an excellent, friendly experience. The host was very communicative and helpful.

Very nice guest house in a slightly remote and calm area, which was just what we were looking for. We rented an ebike for a small fee to explore the surroundings. Dinner and breakfast were great and the hosts were very friendly. We would book it again. Arigato Gozaimasu!

Situated 43 km from Kenrokuen Garden, 25 km from Shirakawago and 45 km from Myoryuji - Ninja Temple, Minshuku Goyomon features accommodation located in Nanto. The host is friendly and tried her best to introduce us to the meals she prepared. And staying at a UNESCO designated site for the night is a pretty unique experience.

Such an incredible place to stay - most people come to visit the Gassho villages on day trips but being able to do a homestay in the village itself was amazing and a truly unique experience. Our hosts were such a lovely couple, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and tell us about their lives and experiences in the village. Even though we don't know Japanese, our hosts managed to tell us about food, music and the way of life in the village. We're both vegetarian and they went out of their way to make us a delicious meal out of local produce.

Situated 48 km from Kanazawa Castle, Daibutsu Ryokan offers 2-star accommodation in Takaoka and has free bikes. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are accessible at the ryokan free of charge. A ryokan which still upholds the tradition of Japanese hospitality. Even I booked only a single room, I was surprised to find my tatami room so spacious with balcony opens to a beautiful koi pond. I was treated with a famous local biscuit as welcome gift. The breakfast was the tastiest and most eye-pleasing meal I had in my entire 2 weeks-trip. The clam soup was so fresh. The host helped to call the previous hotel I stayed because I left my adaptor & mobile charger there. He was kind to also let me use his charger that night. The room was warm in chilly autumn night and I had a good sleep after soaking in hot bath. It was rainy when I arrived and left the ryokan but because of the hospitality I received, I wished I could have stayed there for another night or 2.
