Ski in/ski out, amazing breakfast each morning, very friendly staff. The drying room was very well set up and the shared bathroom clean. Lots of food options nearby.

Featuring an open-air bath, Kameya Hotel is located in the Yunohama Onsen district of Tsuruoka, only 3.5 km from Kamo Aquarium. This ryokan provides free private parking and a 24-hour front desk. Amazing history and gardens. Rooms were enormous, with open views of the beach and with a cedar bathtub fed by hot springs in the room.

Situated in Tendo in the Yamagata region, Ichiraku tendo spa & brewery features accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. Great all inclusive especially for beer enthusiasts. The room had a lot of space even with the futons laid out. We enjoyed the open air bath in the room and the private onsen. The meals were fantastic especially the dinners.

Takasagoya Ryokan offers a public bath, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Zao Onsen, 200 metres from Zao Onsen Ski Resort. A friend and I stayed there during one week-end. It was a very good experience. The room is quite large and very clean. The highlight of this stay was for sure the dinner. The food was delicious, made with high quality products and with a large selection of different dishes. The owners were very nice with us. If you want to have an experience in a traditionnal family owned ryokan, I highly recommend to stay there :) It is exactly the kind of place that I hope will still exist in some years!

Boasting natural hot spring baths, Hohoemino Kuyufu Tsuruya is located a 15-minute walk from JR Tendo Station, 50 km from Sendai. Most incredible onsen we’ve been. Everything was very nicely decorated, great dinner and breakfast in private rooms. Big room. Onsen was increasingly clean

Situated in Zao Onsen in the Yamagata region, with Zao Onsen Ski Resort nearby, Matsupokkuri features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The ryokan has family rooms. Location was excellent. So close to the bus station. Easy walk to the onsens and restaurants and ski slopes. The hosts were so kind and helpful.

Guests at Hayamakan can enjoy traditional multi-course meals and relax in the indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths. The property was very luxurious, clean and just very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and tried to accommodate with what ever I needed. Even with the language barrier they did everything exceptionally without any issues. The food was amazing also. The dinners especially were one of the major highlights for me. I tried so many new dishes and they all tasted amazing. Being locally sourced also made if that more delicious. The room was also amazing as I had my own private onsen.
