This is so special for Japanese hotel at the same price range. Bathroom is roomy and modern. The overall vibe of the hotel is modern and cozy. Short walk from Yamagata station and 7-11 down stairs is a plus.

Ski in/ski out, amazing breakfast each morning, very friendly staff. The drying room was very well set up and the shared bathroom clean. Lots of food options nearby.

Featuring an open-air bath, Kameya Hotel is located in the Yunohama Onsen district of Tsuruoka, only 3.5 km from Kamo Aquarium. This ryokan provides free private parking and a 24-hour front desk. Amazing history and gardens. Rooms were enormous, with open views of the beach and with a cedar bathtub fed by hot springs in the room.

Situated in Tendo in the Yamagata region, Ichiraku tendo spa & brewery features accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. Great all inclusive especially for beer enthusiasts. The room had a lot of space even with the futons laid out. We enjoyed the open air bath in the room and the private onsen. The meals were fantastic especially the dinners.

Takasagoya Ryokan offers a public bath, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Zao Onsen, 200 metres from Zao Onsen Ski Resort. Warmest accommodations I’ve ever received. I loved every aspect of the place - sleeping, living, dining, showering, onsen, accessibility to the slopes. This is a beautiful place! The owners were very nice and they were very forgiving of our mistakes and helped out with our request.

Boasting natural hot spring baths, Hohoemino Kuyufu Tsuruya is located a 15-minute walk from JR Tendo Station, 50 km from Sendai. Everything about the hotel is beyond my expectation. Hospitality service are first class and all staffs treat their guests with care. The onsens are nice and comfort. The room is great and large. The hotel is well-decorated. The facility and amenities are superb. The view is also relaxing. I arrived at the hotel late and staffs picked me up at the station. Everything was just perfect!

Situated in Zao Onsen in the Yamagata region, with Zao Onsen Ski Resort nearby, Matsupokkuri features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The ryokan has family rooms. Location was excellent. So close to the bus station. Easy walk to the onsens and restaurants and ski slopes. The hosts were so kind and helpful.

Guests at Hayamakan can enjoy traditional multi-course meals and relax in the indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and plentiful. The private dining rooms were wonderful. Hotel interior was beautiful. The staff offered great help with our forgotten belongings.

Located just 24 km from Kamo Aquarium, Tamonkan features accommodation in Tsuruoka with access to a garden, a terrace, as well as a concierge service. This was such a highlight of my trip to Japan- I loved everything about it. The owners were so warm and friendly, the dinner and breakfast were amazing and my room was very comfortable. The location is also great for accessing Mount Haguro. I would love to come back someday!
