Ok, yes it’s expensive but man is this place worth it. The lodge itself is stunning of course with many beautiful areas to explore and relax but the staff themselves are just as stunning. They are beyond attentive and helpful and make you feel like part of the family. When capacity allows, each party is given their own private game drives. Guests are all given their own special treatment whether that be a private dinner by the pool or some small highlight like a sunset dinner in the bush to make your trip feel that little bit more personal. When possible you have the same wait, housekeeping and game drive staff through your stay so they can learn what you like and how to make you the most comfortable. Our housekeeping learned we love Coke Zero so gave us extra each day, our wait staff learned we didn’t like spicy food so made adjustments to the menu for our taste and our game driver knew we wanted to see rhinos and hippos and went above and beyond to make it happen. Even for a luxury lodge it really exceeds expectation. Food and drink were sensational and nothing was too much. We were offered double serves of every meal and never went without a drink in our hands. Ask your driver to take you to the hippo river if you like hippos, it was the closest I will ever come to a hippo unless one day I am eaten by one and was the highlight of my whole 5 week trip to Africa in general. Each game drive comes with drinks in a fridge and cold towels to help manage the heat.

We wanted a quiet place with a great view of Mt Kenya, where we can spend time as a family and just relax - we got this and much more - the wonky house concept is thoughtful and tasteful: The furniture and fittings were of top quality. Hot water always available - both for the shower and in the Kitchen. The bathroom was also very clean and with the best of fittings. This is usually one of the most important part of any accommodation. The kitchen was equipped with everything you ever want. Apart from fridge and microwave, there were blenders, toaster, all sorts of cutlery and pans - lots of knives lol, a water filter/cooler and the cooker was also a top quality gas cooker. The interior design was excellent and you just love to be surrounded with just tasteful design. Sleep was good, with warm blankets and they also provided us with hot water bottles. The bedroom, to the delight of my kids has lots of board games! We played cards, cluedo, chinese checkers etc. This was well time spent together. We had lunch at the porch with a view of Mt Kenya. Just brilliant. Mike, the caretaker has been great. He's responsible, smart and helpful. He kept the kids busy (when we wanted some space). He also organized for some stuff to be brought from the grocery store at the main road. The kids say they already miss him as they had a good time with Mike. He stays behind the Wonky house so is literally on stand by in case of anything. The wonky house give a great farm house experience as there was sheep, a cow and various crops growing, giving the kids experience on how crops are grown and they also spent time with the sleep and cow as they asked 100's of questions Mike was happy to answer. We're got a full day of clear view of the mountain yesterday - I've lived in Kenya 40 years and never got such a complete experience of living around Nanyuki/Timau. The Wonky house is quiet close to Mt Kenya. We enjoyed and got the experience we were looking for!

He deserves great recognition. This hotel knows how to bring the Xmas spirit to their guests. Freda deserves a raise!!!
