Loved it! Staying at the Silvan Garden hotel changed the trajectory of our trip. We emailed the hotel, and it worked out that one of the owners could help drive us. For an affordable price, we then spent the next day and a half with him. First from KL to Cameron highlands, learning all about Malaysian culture, stopping for wild durian on an epic drive through the jungle. Then a private local tour through the tea plantations, lunch at his favourite Indian restaurant in town, an amazing jungle trek to a peak overlooking Cameron Highlands, a visit to the Buddhist temple and refreshments overlooking the golf course. He recommended sunset on the rooftop of the hotel and dinner in town and both were amazing. We were taken in by a local and it was so special. The next day he offered to take us on Penang and we jumped at the offer. On the way we stopped in Ipoh at another Buddhist temple built into caves and a mountain. Incredible. And local delicacies in the cultural old town.
