Located just 3.9 km from Estadio Ciudad de Cumaná, Casa Samaykuy provides accommodation in Ayacucho with access to free bikes, a garden, as well as a shared kitchen. Very nice hotel in Ayacucho and great value. I stayed for five nights at the start of a bikepacking trip. Pilar was a great host and was very helpful as a fellow cyclist. The room had everything I needed and the kitchenette was great for making breakfast. WiFi was fast enough to do work. It was a bit of a walk from the centre, but it was easy and cheap to hop a bus nearby (just make sure you go the right way). While it's not in the historic centre, the neighbourhood was very peaceful and there was some good restaurants nearby. Update: Pilar offered to ship a bag of extra clothes and things to my final destination of Arequipa. I'm happy to say it showed up as promised. This made my life much easier and it shows Pilar's dedication to her guests. Upgraded to a 10 for that.

She helped me book a tour and a taxi, she made recommendations on where and what to eat. It's rare to get such great attention! The hostel is very clean and has a nice rooftop terrace, clean showers with hot water and one of the best equipped (and cleanest!) kitchen I have seen in a hostel. There are tons of places to have breakfast or dinner in the surroundings, including a local market. The hostel was very quiet during my stay: I was the only guest while I was there. But I'd definitely sleep there again if I went back to Ayacucho!

Ayacucho is a beautiful colonial city that will inevitably be featured as an undiscovered gem for tourists.
