The outside seating area at the room I stayed in along with an area to clean off your feet before you went into your room. It was a truly beautiful property and amazing experience.

We stayed for 9 nights starting just one day after opening, so everything was brand new, spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. Special thanks to Amir, the manager, for making us feel so welcome, and to Watson, whose friendly, attentive service made every meal a delight. The staff were exceptional, the rooms very spacious and comfortable, the food delicious, and the entire stay truly unforgettable.

From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel truly welcome. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and full of good vibes. A special thank you to Johnny, the owner, whose kindness and hospitality made my experience unforgettable. And of course, a big shout-out to Billy, the barman — always smiling, friendly, and ready to prepare a great drink! I highly recommend Hostel 197 to anyone visiting Nungwi. I’ll definitely be back!

We came here for our honeymoon, staying from 15 December to 19 December, and what we experienced was far more than just a vacation — it was a moment of pure joy, love, and unforgettable memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. The hotel was beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming, but what truly touched our hearts were the people. Especially Aida and Sity, who turned our honeymoon into something magical. When they learned that we were celebrating our honeymoon, they treated us not just like guests, but like family. One day, while we were away from the hotel for a few hours, they prepared the most incredible surprise. When we returned to our room, we were speechless. The room was beautifully decorated with flowers, and the bed had our names written on it with the message “Enjoy Your Honeymoon.” It was breathtaking, emotional, and made us feel so loved and special. My wife was truly overwhelmed with happiness. That same evening, they surprised us once again with a romantic dinner setup just for us. And as if that wasn’t enough, at the end of the dinner the staff came out singing and dancing in Swahili — “Jumbo, Jumbo, Bwana” Habari gani? Nzuri sana Wageni, mwakaribishwa, Kenya yetu, hakuna matata. Bringing us a cake and wishing us a happy honeymoon. In that moment, surrounded by smiles, music, and warmth, we felt pure happiness. It was a moment that brought tears of joy to our eyes. This was not just a honeymoon — it was one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives. Words are not enough to express our gratitude to Aida and Sity. Their kindness, care, and genuine love for what they do are truly rare. They went far beyond their job to make us happy, and they absolutely deserve recognition from their managers for the incredible people they are. thank you for making our honeymoon so special❤️

The hotel is really lovely right on the beach with palm trees and sand. Walking around the hotel you walk on sand up to your room. It is a great feeling. The view is gorgeous ! The staff are all smiles and willing to help. We arrived really late at the hotel past dinner time but the restaurant manager ensured that we could have dinner. Jola the hotel manager is really lovely and helpful ! All in all it was an Amazing experience - pity we did not stay longer !
