Amazing view and friendly host

Loved the place so much we went back. It's a very relaxing location. The rooms have privacy and amazing views.. Owners have the cutest dog (Benji). Breakfast is good enough, eggs and jams and stuff.

Great hostel, very social, and loved the cooking class/family dinner. The host was so accommodating with booking taxis, dinners, or activities for us.

A home away from home - the family was amazingly kind and really made us feel welcome. We could practice some Sinhala with them and they organized a cookery class on request in which we definitely cooked the best food we had so far in Sri Lanka. The house is situated perfectly - the garden has a beautiful view and it is very peaceful to enjoy the (very tasty!) breakfast while watching all kinds of squirrels and birds playing around, while only a 5 minute walk brings you to the midst of the buzzling Ella! Also very nice to be greeted by the cute dog of the neighbours every time we returned from a walk. We cannot recommend this place enough!

I had a wonderful stay at city heven ella. The staff were friendly and attentive, making my experience truly enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options to start the day. The view from my room was breathtaking, adding an extra touch of relaxation to my stay. I highly recommend this hotel for a memorable visit!

The staff were incredibly friendly and accomodating. The images you see online are an accurate reflection of the room, which is spacious and the beds and comfortable with a mosquito net. The Ella town can be loud at night but this is far enough away that you can barely hear anything. The room is incredibly good value for money, especially because you get breakfast included in the price (we always tipped breakfast because we felt bad for how good value the whole deal was!). Breakfast was very large too, with coffee, fresh fruit, pancakes, and eggs + toast. They catered breakfast to my partner who is vegan very well. We also arranged through them a trip to a nearby monastery which was very kind.

We had the most amazing stay at Wood Heart. The host family are such lovely people and went above and beyond to make our stay special - including organising a birthday cake for my partner. The food was beautiful with a different breakfast each day and the view from the rooms balcony was both stunning and private. On top of that, they let us go up on the (flat and walkable) roof in the morning/evenings and put chairs up there for us to watch the best sunrise/sunsets I’ve seen in a long time. Room is very spacious and the location is super handy for a quick stroll along the train tracks towards town or the other way towards Ella rock. Couldn’t recommend this place more! Thank guys!!

The owner went above and boyond, carrying our bag, bringing tea and snacks to the room on arrival and bringing breakfast to the room to have on the balcony in the morning. The room was clean, spacious and had a great view.

We had a wonderful stay at Birdy Retreat in Ella. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed very warmly and immediately felt at home. The host was incredibly kind and helpful, always taking the time to answer all our questions and making sure we had everything we needed. At one point our charging cable broke, and he even went to the next town to get a new one for us, which we really appreciated. He also helped us arrange a tuk-tuk whenever we needed one and shared many interesting insights about Ella and the surrounding area. We also joined the cooking class, which was a great experience. The room was spotless and had everything we could wish for. One of the highlights was the delicious breakfast served on our private balcony every morning. The location is perfect - only about a five-minute walk to the center of Ella, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful at night, which made sleeping very comfortable. We truly felt very welcome and relaxed during our stay and would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!
