At the end of the village, so more quiet, front of the gorgeous river. My bungalow was huge and very charming. But most of all Tia welcome you in the best way. She's very kind and gives very good advices, so you can trust her to organise a treck in the forest. I did it and it was a magic moment ( and physical ! ). I love Bukit Lawang, it's a very beautiful place and you can trust me : go to Rambai Tree Jungle lodge you will love it !

Asim Paris Guesthouse & jungle trekking has a garden, private beach area, a terrace and restaurant in Bukit Lawang. Boasting a concierge service, this property also provides guests with a barbecue. The place is beautiful and quiet. The staff is amazing, very helpful. They also offer trekkings to the jungle. I did a 3-day trekking. It was the best. We saw orang-utans, had delicious food and the guides were very knowledgeable.

Mario Lakeside Apartments is a recently renovated apartment in Tuk Tuk, where guests can make the most of its free bikes and garden. Wonderful 4-night stay. The owner and staff are super kind and welcoming. The apartment was so functional--I can see why it can also be rented long-term. Favorite thing was probably the hammock and view of the lake, as well as the convenience of the vegetarian restaurant!

Indra Valley Inn Bukit Lawang features a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Bukit Lawang. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk, a tour desk and currency exchange for guests. We had a fabulous 6 night stay with Obiwan and his fabulous team. Such a special experience for me returning to Bukit Lawang after 27 years. First day we sat on our Indra Valley river view room balcony and watched two orangutang in trees on the other side of the river. We were treated again a few days later with two more orangutang providing us with balcony entertainment. Being located further up the river, at Indra Valley you have the advantage of a jungle outlook from the hotel directly over the river. We did the overnight jungle tour, family of 4 with 13 and 16 year old kids which was a fabulous experience and included seeing more orangutang, many monkeys, a magnificently cooked meal that night and the tube down the river the next day. Kids absolutely loved it. Obiwan and his team are exceptional hosts, we were very well looked after. Thank you Obiwan, Shelley Tom Ben and Annabelle

Playgrounds Sabbit Mentawai Surfcamp is set in Pulau Masokut and features a garden, a shared lounge and a bar. Staff on site can arrange airport transfers. Fantastic rooms. Location is perfect, with any kind of waves around and amazing sunsets. Paco an Carlos are Fantastic guides and excellent people, although Paco sings terribly!!! ;) Special mention to the food; it's tasty and varied, with different homemade desserts every day. I will definitely be back!!!

We had a truly wonderful stay at Frenkie’s villa in Krui. The place was beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly set up for a relaxing holiday. But what made our time extra special was the kindness and thoughtfulness of Frenkie and his wife. They surprised me with a cake and doughnuts for my birthday, which was such a heartwarming gesture and made me feel incredibly welcome and cared for. I’m so grateful for their generosity—it really made the experience unforgettable. I couldn’t recommend this villa and these amazing hosts enough. Thank you, Frenkie!
