From the moment you open the front door you are greeted with a beautiful garden and open green spaces to explore within the grounds. We were very late to check in (about 11pm), and the owner Kengo-san waited up for us in order to show us to our room and give us a clear explanation about how to use the facilities. We sincerely appreciated that. Our room was spacious, clean, and very calming to rest in. Heating AC in the room was a godsend for the cold nights, and the showers had hot water and a modern WC with bidet. There is also a shared kitchen to prepare your food and throw trash. There’s a lot to appreciate and admire in 88House Hiroshima. From the beautiful Yukimi shoji doors in the rooms that lets in the natural daylight whilst still retaining privacy, to the beautiful wooden beams and rafters and wooden light fixtures. A lot of interesting books and ornaments adorn the walkway, and there’s even a small section of kids toys to entertain the little ones. Kengo-san has made sure to leave lots of flyers and pamphlets of events/exhibtions, and a variety of things to do and explore in the area, so check the table near the entrance genkan. There is a lot of greenery around you and a small stream outside the property, as well as Kengo-san’s sweet potato fields. Kengo-san is very friendly and my partner and I are very thankful to have had a chance to stay in his home. We highly highly recommend staying here if you are in Hiroshima and want a slice of Japanese home living away from the city. We hope to come back and stay again, and I hope Kengo-san can bring us for that hike up the mountain behind his house to see the Kannon statue!

1.1 km from Kameyama Shrine, 猫と泊まれる宿にゃんstay is a recently renovated property set in Kure and offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Super friendly host, gave me a lift to the sights that I was interested and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring I was comfortable in their stay. Cats very friendly and playful, plenty of them. Good location, quiet part of town but walking distance to places of interest.

Situated in Onomichi, near Onomichi History Museum and MOU Onomichi City University Art Museum, 旧雨今雨 is a recently renovated property, featuring, free bikes and garden. - beautiful property - fully equipped - unique atmosphere of traditional japanese house We really enjoyed this one night stay.

Set within 10 km of Shotoen Garden and Museums and 10 km of Rantokaku Museum, nagi-setouchi offers rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Kure. We loved this property! We had everything we needed. The design and aesthetics were great! The unit was spotlessly clean; the beds were comfortable and the location is perfect.

Offering a garden and mountain view, East Villa Shimanami Mukaishima seafront is set in Onomichi, 4.4 km from Saikon-ji Temple and 5 km from Oogamiyama Omoto Shrine. Kazu and Staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. They provided us with great recommendations of local restaurants/shops and activities. Very clean with great sea view. Comes with a free parking space which is a bonus.

Located within 5.8 km of Saikon-ji Temple and 6.4 km of Oogamiyama Omoto Shrine, Beach Villa Tachibana provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Onomichi. Mr Kazu (the owner of the villa) was absolutely amazing! He helped us a lot renting bicycles, doing some shopping, transferring the luggage and getting into the villa - excellent contact via booking.com. The villa itself is located in a very calm neighborhood next to the sandy beach. It is a perfect location to relax and have a nice bicycle ride around the islands. The villa is very well equipped and big enough for 6 persons.

Located in Kisa, 49 km from Saikokuji Temple and 49 km from Onomichi History Museum, Villa Kuon Kisa 一棟貸し古民家 庭園とプライベートサウナで独占する大自然 offers air conditioning. I had an amazing stay in Kuon Villa. The house was renovated with much love and combines old and new in a very stylish way. If you want to experience a traditional Japanese house but don’t want to miss out on modern comfort, this is the house for you. This was really one of my best stays in Japan. Spacious modern kitchen and eating area, very comfortable bed and nice Sauna and Bathroom. The highlights are the beautiful Tatami rooms that offer an amazing view into the surrounding Garden. I unfortunately only stayed for one night and spend most of my time sitting in the tatami room, drinking tea and looking at the beautiful Garden. The house also offers a lot of privacy as it is a bit on the edge of the village and has everything you need for a relaxed stay, from BBQ, deckchairs to entertainment system (Bluetooth box and projector). High quality amenities were also supplied. Washing machine and dryer are also available. The house is located in the countryside, I recommend buying supplies in one of the cities on the way. There are also some restaurants nearby. I came by car from Fukuyama which took about an hour and was a nice ride through the hills, I enjoyed staying away from the crowded big cities. The manager was very friendly and replied fast to any questions I had. I will be back for sure, next time for a longer stay.

LEMON FARM GLAMPING simanami, a property with barbecue facilities, is set in Onomichi, 26 km from Oogamiyama Omoto Shrine, 29 km from Saikon-ji Temple, as well as 32 km from Saikokuji Temple. The food and service were outstanding. There was so much food for dinner, which was delicious. They were very helpful with the bike pick-up and drop-off. Thank you.

しまなみ宿sagi is set in Mukaitanoura. This holiday home has a garden, barbecue facilities, free WiFi and free private parking. Amazing location- beautiful property absolutely spotless totally well implemented, impeccably maintained and very charming
