Shiga Kogen Lodge features mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Yamanouchi, 20 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park. There is a seating and a dining area in all units. The food was amazing, it was an experience on it's own. Be prepared to eat things that you wouldn't usually eat and have a real authentic Japanese experience. I looked forward to breakfast every day, the food was beautiful and presented beautifully. The owners are super helpful and the location to the ski lifts is superb. We hadn't done an Onsen yet until we stayed at Shiga Kogen, so it was baptism by fire as the shared bathrooms is the Onsen, but don't be put off, it's an amazing experience and the Onsen is great after a day on the slopes.

Shiga No Yu Hotel is set in Yamanouchi, within 13 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 22 km of Ryuoo Ski Park. We had the most exceptional experience at Shiga No Yu - their staff was incredibly accommodating despite our poor Japanese and they provided a clean onsen, warm and cosy accommodation and most importantly the most amazing meals for breakfast and dinner every day! If you are looking for a traditional experience right outside a chairlift, this is the place to be!

The room is incredible comfortable and clean. Super spacious and cozy. The property is run by a helpful and amazingly friendly staff. They took a really good care of us. They had ski gear available included, the breakfast was delicious and the portions were huge - we couldn’t finish it no matter how hard we tried. My 3 yo had a blast with the friendly staff. We felt like we were staying at a relative’s place. The onsen was always open and we could reserve a time for the family to bath together.

Absolutely loved this property. The staff were unbelievably kind and helpful, even through the language barrier. The room was an AMAZING Japanese-style ryokan room. The onsens were clean and wonderfully warm. The location was outstanding and I loved every minute here. I wish I had been able to extend my stay!
