We enjoyed a comfortable stay here - we felt incredibly welcome with such wonderful, hard working and incredibly helpful hospitality from the hosts at this family run hotel. Momo, the shiba dog, was a massive hit with us - super friendly and we even took her for a walk! The ski resort is a 5 minute drive away - we parked in the Rental Naja car park for 1000 yen a day. This made it easier to access the slopes. We ate several times at the hotel - home cooked curry and amazing sushi. The breakfasts were varied and great. Free parking too which was helpful. Shared facilities were no issue…lots of sinks, good system for bathing. Would 100% return!

The owner is welcoming and enthusiastic. The meals were home-cooked, and quite delightful. The owner helped us facilitate a side trip in the area, very kindly. It's a remote rural location, which has its own beauty.

Super charming small ryokan in great location from the bus terminal (5 min walk) as well as all the onsens. The staff were so kind and amazing. Chigusa at the front desk is easy to communicate as her English is very good and she was so helpful in guiding me through the map of all the onsens. The cleaning staff also so warm. Also the onsen is 24-hrs so that was great for me because I arrived around 8pm. Loved the breakfast and I was shocked when a whole rice cooker was placed on the table just for me. It was a great first time experience to Zao Onsen area and I hope I can find a way to come back again.

Very convenient house, large with a lot of facilities and private parking. Sota-san is a great host. The location is perfect, close to the main spots and excellent restaurants and coffee places. There is also a great museum run by Sato-san with Lots of good memories about the 80’ties and 90’ties!

The host cared about us during our 4-night stay, offering advice on food choices and being supportive! He even gave us a watermelon before we checked out! Although it’s not so big as expected, it is carefully designed, a big TV screen, a small kitchen, Netflix, a washing machine.

Providing a restaurant and a bar, Lodge Scole is located in Zao Onsen, not far from Zao Onsen Ski Resort. Complimentary WiFi is provided and private parking is available on site. Good food and good view. Value for money and they have a cute dog! Near the ski area. Very friendly staff who can speak good English so no communication issues
