Chris is a wonderful human being and goes above and beyond to make the stay in Shela a pleasant one. He was always clear with communication and looked after us with care. The properly is one of the highlights of our visit to Shela and Lamu. Shanti means peace, which the property definitely provides. Highly recommended!

Located in Shela, La Joya Lamu provides accommodation 500 metres from Shela Beach and 100 metres from Mnarani House. The units in the bed and breakfast are equipped with a kettle. We were lucky to experience the upstairs rooftop penthouse. It's literally like sleeping outside under the makuti roof. Yes there's ants and wind and tiny peaces of the roof everywhere but the experience was awesome! The view was spectacular and the vibe was great. The place was cleaned daily. It's really an experience to do in Shela!

Featuring a terrace with garden views, a private beach area and a garden, Madakani House can be found in Lamu, close to Shela Beach and 100 metres from Mnarani House. The staff were amazing - so friendly and attentive. We have a young family and they were great with the children too. The house is a beautiful old Swahili house. The rooms are on the upper floors meaning there is a nice breeze to keep you cool at night and during the day. We have 2 small children and easily fitted into one family room. There was also a great roof terrace for sundowners and/or dinner each night. Location was very convenient - a couple of minutes walk to the beach. Edwin was very helpful in organising dhows, dinner and bonfire in the dunes etc. We will definitely be back!

Great location in the more affluent part of Lamu. Hot water if you needed it. Only two rooms with roof terrace. View slightly impeded by new build.
