Really wonderful getaway that was super peaceful and restorative, at the foot of the mountain of Monsaraz. Wanted to stay longer it was so wonderful. Beautiful gardens and land surrounding it with 2500 year old olive trees!

A wonderful place to escape from the city. Spending a few days surrounded by nature and vineyards was a truly beautiful experience. The interesting industrial design blends subtly into the landscape. The single-storey accommodation buildings are thoughtfully designed to open up to beautiful views. Convenient access by car and parking right next to the property made everything easy. The room was spacious, with a large bathroom and a private terrace. In the morning, we enjoyed an impressive breakfast. The products are grown on the local farm and prepared by hand. We tasted freshly pressed apple and orange juices. We chose to have dinner at the on-site restaurant and made the right decision. The menu looks delicious, but we had a special opportunity to enjoy an exclusive six-course chef’s menu created especially for February 14th. The flavors were subtle and perfectly balanced.

Ines—one of the owners— is warm and welcoming. Our room was splendid—comfortable, lovely, overlooking the beautiful pool. Breakfast was perfect—obrigado Patricia! We liked this beautiful Solar ( a former school where Ines was a schoolgirl—how cool!) so much that we stayed one more night! My friend left for work in Lisboa and I stayed for a third night! One night turned into three because it is so delightful! I have cycled 94,000+km around the world and have stayed at well over 1000+ hotels around the world on every continent except Antarctica—Solar Dos Frades is one of the best! Obrigado Ines!
