Casa Das Laranjeiras is an awesome hillside property with an amazing view of the Douro Valley and the Pinhao Quay. Antonio and Cristina, who own and run the place, literally obsess about keeping the property clean and in tip-top shape and are an absolute delight to interact with. Apart from the common kitchen area where one can cook, the rooms themselves are very well furnished including a refrigerator, a nespresso machine (including adequate pods), an automatic citrus juicer, a toaster oven etc. The oranges and the bottle of port wine are a nice gesture. The property is apparently 1700 metres from the Pinhao station and google maps shows it to be a 15 mins walk. However, please note that the route to the property is uphill and may be difficult to do in hot weather. There are limited number of taxis at the Pinhao station, so would be helpful to get the taxi company's contact number before coming. The property is west facing, so one can take a gentle walk to Pinhao station in the early mornings.

The whole place is an island of serenity. We will return.

We loved the reception by Mrs Julia, who was very kind and friendly. She gave us tips on restaurants nearby. We also enjoyed the wineyard at the bottom of the hotel and that we were allowed to walk around at any time. The place is very calm and quiet, perfect for a escape from the city hustle and bustle. Mr Jose was also of extreme kindness setting us up with a lovely boat tour through Douro on my bday. We had just asked where we could arrange for the tour and he went all the way calling the person and helping us organize. Breakfast was delicious and all the staff was really attentive. We highly recommend a stay with them!

Costa D'Ouro is gelegen in Castelo de Paiva, op 43 km van Castelo de Santa Maria da Feira en 48 km van voetbalstadion Estádio do Dragão (FC Porto). Location was amazing after a trip to the city. Our daughter loved being able to walk to the beach and see the ducks. We did it 3-4 times a day. The location was nice if you have a car, being able to drive 30m-1hr to attractions didn’t bother us.
