Guests can also relax the spa & wellness centre where a sauna and massage therapies are provided. The location of the hotel was fabulous brilliant views of the sea and the staff were so friendly and very helpful when we had to stay an extra night as our plane home was cancelled! The hotel also provided a very good complimentary mini bus service to the start and finish of various walks and to Funchal and to the airport. Thoroughly recommend the hotel and place!

Set in Machico, S A L - Beach Apartments Caniçal is a recently renovated accommodation, 22 km from Santana's Traditional Houses and 30 km from Marina do Funchal. The property has mountain and garden views, and is 500 metres from Beach Pedradeira. The guest house features family rooms. Great place. New. Balcony in Room 5 was nice to sit and have a beer from the local supermarket (the coffee/pastry shop and small supermarket right past the church are great - staff speak either great English or pretty good English). We overlooked the water- nice. I posted a pic from the balcony. There was also a skylight over the bed if you like stars. Housekeeping was wonderful, and we asked Pedro (very very responsive) for extra towels on Saturday because they're off on Sunday. No problem. Fridge is nice, coffee/pods provided in room were also great, but it was nice to wander down to one of the shops after a day of hiking/sightseeing and sit and have a cup outside. Also- nice places to eat all around, O Recante was fabulous (oh, I'll remember that dessert for a long time) and we had a super nice inexpensive dinner at Muralha's Bar. I can't find any fault with the place other than what I'm sure will be a brief one as they're apparently enlarging the parking area (if they haven't finished already!).

Cozy, spotless, well appointed home. Extra blankets, plenty of dishes and cookware, shampoo, fresh towels whenever we asked, on a quiet street with a pretty view and parking in front of the house. Excellent WiFi and extremely kind, responsive host.

Situated just 1.8 km from Lugar de Baixo Beach, Panoramic House provides accommodation in Ribeira Brava with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. This property offers access to a pool table and darts. The guest house features mountain views, a sun terrace and a 24-hour front desk. Warm welcome, homey feeling. Featuring mountain and garden views, this holiday home also provides guests with free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is located 23 km from Marina do Funchal. Super, super clean, well appointed accommodation with ocean views, wild style garden and all the amenities necessary for a comfortable, relaxing family stay. Great host who was easy to communicate with. The only drawback for a person who is mold sensitive like myself was the humidity smell in the downstairs bedroom. Something that seems to be pretty ubiquitous on an island with so much water everywhere.

Situated in Calheta within 2 km of Calheta Beach and 25 km of Girao Cape, Sunset Star with Sea View features rooms with free WiFi. The property is around 31 km from Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools, 33 km from Marina do Funchal and 31 km from Volcanic caves of São Vicente. Staff on-site can arrange a shuttle service. We were in the accommodation for the weekend- great placement and great views from the terrace. Clean and the communication was great. During our stay we managed to unfortunately lose the key of the property but in 10 minutes the host managed to replace this at no extra cost. Really appreciated this and the swift response.
