Vi var veldig fornøyd og valgte derfor å endre planene våre og utvide oppholdet vårt med flere dager. Det er en nydelig utsikt til hagen og sjøen. Fuglene kvitret og det vokser masse frukt, pepper, kakao m.m. Vi ble godt tatt i mot av eieren José og hans team. Maten var god og vi fikk hjelp til å finne frem til stranden i nærmiljøet, som var helt fantastisk. Vi besøkte stranden tre ganger og hver gang var vi helt alene - og det var fint å svømme i vannet og det var perfekt temperatur samt skygge om man synes solen blir varm. En av de som jobber her er også guide i nasjonalparken og grensen er ikke langt unna, så det var enkelt å finne guide til fossen Oque Pipi. Vi liker å bo nært naturen så dette var et veldig bra sted for oss!

We found this amazing place on Booking and hesitated at first to book due to the location and incorrect old reviews - yes, it's a little further than most properties: but that just makes it better. I'm so incredible glad we stayed here. The location is beyond anything you can imagine, right on the edge of the national park but you feel in the middle of the forest. We made tapes of the sound because no one would otherwise believe you can hear so much animals! The massive tree in front has something of 'mother tree' in avatar and we spend hours just looking at in and all the live in and around it - its a world on itself - or on the bench in the front garden with a nice view on the ocean. The house looks brand new, is situated on a slope in a plantation garden (cacao, piment, vanilla and banana, fruits) and is recently totally renovated: perfect bed and mattress, rain shower, spotless and hyper clean well furnished rooms, a library, satellite tv (we had the view in front so did never use it), and all very warmly and beautiful decorated: you feel at home the moment you enter the door. It was also nice to have mosquito nets and protection everywhere - although we never saw much insects. It's crazy equipped, even a good working washing machine, charged flashlights, fans, a hammock with incredible view, cooler, all imaginable kitchen things, iron stuff... really all was available. The view on the forest from the big balcony is incredible, we did see all the typical and endemic birds, often the monkeys, flying bats eating the fruit from the mango and bread tree in front, parrots,... unbelievable to have this paradise in front. The beach is as beautiful as banana beach, but totally private and remote and just 10 minutes further on the road, snorkel there, the reef in front and around the rocky corner is crazy, sharks, turtle, manta (coral bleaching like all over but plenty of fish), you can also take a wooden cano and explore...

The room with private bathroom is good, the aircon is good, breakfast is very good, worth the price, Carlos is a very nice host who goes the extra mile to make your trip comfortable; organising boattrips, excursions on the island, airport transfer or even sometimes cooking a meal in the evening if he has the time. Highly recommended!

From the front balcony every morning we could see thousands of beautiful butterflies and colorful birds and from the back balcony, the view is unique to the garden, fruit trees, and plants like vanilla or black pepper. We also can see the sea and the national park. The staff is very kind and the property is always very clean. Near is the Pousadinha Mar Ave Ilha which belongs to the same owner where we can spend time reading or watching more than 100 TV channels from all over the world. The local meals were also fantastic, especially the fresh fish and the octopus. I truly recommend Casa Mãe to other guests who want to have a peaceful time. Grade 10.

Casa do Rio ligger i Nova Cuba og tilbyr en hage, en terrasse og massasje. Staff was friendly and always happy to help! AC was a nice to have. Electric bikes available were great to visit some nearby beaches.
