MagyarországA wonderful stay, especially for anyone wanting to experience the Great Wall and the beautiful countryside around Beijing. Although the hotel is about an hour from central Beijing, getting there was effortless: they picked me up directly from the airport, and the comfortable drive to the village was straightforward.
The hotel is nestled among trees in a peaceful little village beside a stream, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. My room was spotlessly clean, fresh and well equipped. What made the stay truly special, however, was the hospitality: I always felt genuinely welcome, with smiles, kindness and exceptional helpfulness. Language was never a problem either, as the staff used their own translation app for our conversations – so even my phone battery survived. :)
The spectacular Mutianyu Great Wall is extremely close. From the hotel we reached the Wall entrance in about 35 minutes at a comfortable pace via an easy forest trail. If you prefer not to walk, you can instead reach a cable car by road, which takes you directly up to the same beautiful section of the Wall.
I also arrived with a rather unusual request. As a photographer and experienced hiker, I wanted to explore Jiankou, a wild, unrestored and potentially dangerous section of the Great Wall involving difficult hiking and some scrambling/climbing. I therefore asked the hotel in advance to arrange a knowledgeable local guide. I also wanted maximum freedom to explore, stop for photographs and move at my own pace rather than follow a rigid tour.
By the time I arrived, everything had already been arranged, while I could still discuss and adjust the final details locally. I got exactly the adventure I had hoped for, with complete flexibility and freedom.
I came for the location and the Great Wall, but I will remember the extraordinary kindness and hospitality just as much. Thank you for making an unforgettable journey even more memorable. I would gladly stay here again!
