Matera is one of those magical places, it has gone from being the “shame of Italy” to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to one of the 2019 European Capitals of Culture. The city is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in history. It has been the filming location for many movies. The ancient architecture, the cave dwellings, the views at every turn, with that less touristy feel, made it one of my absolute favorite site of my 3 weeks in Italy... I had that smile the entire day! There are a lot of stairs, hillside cliffs, to walk up and down, Matera provenant itself challenging, and to beat the heat, the early morning, and late night discoveries happened. I stayed in this famous cave hotel, including the vistas and the underground Roman baths... one day was not sufficient! Arrivederci Matera !

The location was excellent, right in the city center and within walking distance of all the main attractions. The hosts were wonderful, providing us with clear and helpful information. The room was beautiful and clean, and the breakfast was delicious. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for an authentic experience!

One of the best experiences ever that I had

An old palazzo, perfectly renovated in an amazing location with a breathtaking view over the ‘sassi’ old city. A nice parfum that I discovered was done ad hoc for them as ‘hotel signature’. A truly quality breakfast with delicious local products.

Omg this hotel is beautiful 😍 we had the room with spa wow this was amazing. Matera is gorgeous like no other place I've been. Breakfast was great and Mario was delightful always happy to see us. Highly recommend this hotel ♡

The personalised service and warmth we got from the family run Masseria. The lie on the hills. The views kilometers far amongst the endless fields of Durum. The quality of the food and wines served.

Friendly staff. Free parking. Free minibar. Private spa👍 Walking distance to old town. There were no Korean reviews, but this was truly the best accommodation in Italy.

The property is restored in a beautiful way, looks even better than photos. The beds are very comfortable. The pool is warm, and jets and waterfall work very well. It’s a nice touch to have prosecco in the fridge as welcome and coffee in the apartment. Breakfast was in a cute cafe in the city. Parking was close and Marco was very helpful.

The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. They helped us book walking tours and good restaurants on short notice. The breakfast is homemade using local and/or homegrown products, which was lovely and delicious, with a good spread of both Italian (sweet) and continental (savoury) options. There is an EV charging point on-site that can be used for a fee.

Nice host, location in the central street of Sassi, apartment as in pictures and the stay was excellent! Recommendation to everybody - if you have luggage don't worry about classic ups/downs in Matera, really easy to get here with bus line as host recommended or just walk down the main street by St. Agostino church!

I liked the location in the countryside but near to Matera center. The house is really comfortable, clean and with all the facilities. The owner is really welcoming, kind, and her advice were really precious

Amazing the best accommodation we had in italy a real home from home

The location suited our requirements, far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough for a quick trip to all amenities and facilities. On site parking was great.

Very friendly and helpful staff, Location was great-10 minutes driving (30 minutes walking) from Matera city centre in a beautiful, green and quite spot. Modern and cleaned premises. Beautiful pool and coffee machine available!

An outstandingly beautiful villa boasting stunning views all around. The peaceful tranquility at this place will be hard to beat. We didn’t hear a single car for the duration of our stay. The property itself is finished to the highest standard with hand selected furniture and home furnishings. The kitchen is very well equipped and the BBQ and pizza oven were very welcome allowing us to cook outside and enjoy the breathtaking views at sunset even while cooking. A truly special place- I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Giulio is the best host we have ever had. Even from a distance, he is kind, caring, very responsive. He knows the local area well and has lots of fantastic recommendations. We will be back!
