Located in Mocoa in the Putumayo region, Birdsong lodge provides accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a sauna. Excellent variety of perks - sauna, steam room, pool, breakfast options served at the hour you need, great communication. Rooms were very comfortable, huge for the price. Outside of the city so the noise level is more natural and less city chaos. It's not quiet - this is Latin America and it is impossible to achieve quiet when there are other people in the neighborhood. But it is not city loud.

As a solo backpacker, I was unsure whether to spend money on this place but it's SO worth it. There's a larger dorm room that fits 4 people and two smaller single dorm rooms for 1 person each - they all have great views. It was quiet when I was there so I was given a single room in the dorm block and it was beautiful! (Note, there's no windows so you're open to hearing all the jungle noises, it's great). I ended up extending my stay as I didn't want to leave. The showers / toilets are basic in an outdoors block below the dorm cabin. The water wasn't hot but it was warm, pleasant to shower in in the Amazon heat. There's also hammocks to chill in under there, in the dorm balcony, and over in the main entrance / dining block. For food - you're out of town but the accommodation can provide all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner). I did this each day and it was all delicious and very reasonably priced. i.e. breakfast is 15k and I think dinner is 22k. I found this place better than my experience deeper in the Amazon. There's so much wildlife here and the staff are really enthusiastic about showing you and sharing their knowledge. You can spot monkeys on the estate and on the road outside and so many birds. You can also go on a night time walk to spot frogs with a nearby hostel that they arrange for 50k including your evening meal - super worth it! The guide was so knowledgeable and it was great fun. Not to mention the rainforest hike to their waterfall - it's not huge or insanely powerful but it's one of my favourites I've come across in ten months travelling South America. It has a double drop and it's like a little oasis heaven. You can even jump from the top. I spent hours swimming and just sitting there in peace. They also have a natural pool by the accommodation which was really nice to swim in - even during the rain! Again, can't fault this place. Everyone was so welcoming.

Hotel Tari features an outdoor swimming pool, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Mocoa. The family that owns/operates the facility is very kind. Don Enrique is muy amable and can help you with information on the area. The room is spacious and clean. The location worked well for us as it is close to Fin del Mundo and other hiking options, and was quiet and near the forest. It is quite far from town but you can get on the 4 bus or take a taxi., but if you prefer being central this is not your best option. If you plan to cook, recommend that you stop at the Mocoa Mercado beforehand. There is a small tienda not far away, and the family does operate the restaurant Casa de Chorizo in front where the asado is cooking up their namesake chorizo as well as cerdo and pescado.

The hosts John Jairo and Alexandra were very kind and helpful, and also patient with my lack of Spanish. Every meal I had there was delicious. The nature there is beautiful. I enjoyed relaxing on the hammock, listening to the birds, and visiting the nearby waterfall for a swim.

Providing lake views, Hostal Suna Vito in Puerto Asís provides accommodation, water sports facilities, pool with a view, an open-air bath, a garden and barbecue facilities. My partner and I have been in South America for two months now and out of all the places we have stayed the Hostal Suna Vito has been the most hospitable, tranquil, and helpful accommodation we have stay at thus far. The accommodation sits right on a gorgeous river and my partner and I had stunning views of this to wake up to each and every morning. There were lovely pet dogs and cats who lived on the property that would show us so much love. So if you are animal lovers like we are this place is a big tick for you! The swimming pool was great to swim in each day to cool off in the warm weather. But the greatest part of all was the exceptional hospitality and assistance we received from our host. He would organise our food each day and deliver it straight to our room if we requested. Our laundry service was always washed and dried within a day and the room was routinely cleaned every 48 hours to ensure we always had clean facilities to use and live in. The ownerfree of charge drove my partner and I into town to use the ATM and get items from the grocery store as we did not feel comfortable doing this on our own. He went above and beyond and we ended up feeling that we had our own private security guard supporting us! At the end of our stay the owners son drove us to the bus station is his personal vehicle and even organised our travels to the next location when he could just have easily left us at the gate. I cannot recommend this accommodation enough and if I ever return I refuse to stay anywhere else other than Hostal Sun Vito!

I love that it not immediately accessible by automobile. I love that the location is integrated into the jungle and not just a brick building in a clear cut. I love that the sounds I hear at night are not manmade. I LOVE the mosquito nets
