We had one night here on our roadtrip to the atlantic ocean. We checked Vichy with bikes and that was really great. Breakfast was great. Host absolutely kind…we would come back if there is another option for our trip near vichy.

Offering garden views, La Bruyère - B & B - is an accommodation situated in Tréban, 29 km from Centre National du Costume de Scene and 31 km from Moulins Cathedral. Our hosts were lovely people and we enjoyed every minute with them. The bed was great and the breakfast excellent! Our dog made a new friend with their dog and enjoyed watching the chickens.

We stayed on our way to catch the ferry home from Caen. It was very easy to find and a stunning property steeped in history. The rooms were fascinating and we felt welcomed by Joseph and Ogen who were friendly and explained the history and restoration of the property which dates from 1260. The rooms that we stayed in had a modern shower bathroom between them and beautifully soft bathrobes and large towels were provided. We requested the evening meal and it was the best food we had eaten on our entire holiday, we were also asked for any dietary requests as well. Creatively prepared leek vinagrette opened the meal, local vegetables and deliciously moist cod for the main course and the meal finished with fresh strawberries and homemade Chantilly cream. They had a fully stocked bar which complemented the meal. It was a truly unique stay and would love to return when the weather would allow us to use the outdoor pool! We had breakfast the next day which consisted of fresh croissants and jam and Ogen also made some divine scrambled eggs with chives.

Immaculate room with comfortable bed and gorgeous deep bath. Extra treats in the room was a very kind gesture. Definitely one to remember for all the right reasons. Thank you. X

Set in Lapeyrouse, in a historic building, 30 km from Athanor Centre de Congrès, Château de Bruges is a recently renovated bed and breakfast with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and garden. The family, Jake, Danielle and Graham couldn’t have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. The superb renovations to the beautiful chateau are a credit to their hard work and love for the property. The food was delicious. Our room was beautiful with lots of space and tastefully decorated. Everything was spotlessly clean. Our poodle Molly was welcomed and it was lovely to meet Merlin the resident spaniel. The location was superb, opposite a beautiful lake that you can walk around with a dog and swim in warmer weather. The chateau is easily accessed from and to the motorway. We were travelling north from Spain, stopped at the chateau overnight on our way to Calais. It was all blissfully easy. We will return 😁

Chateau du Grand Lucay features a hot tub and free private parking, and is within 20 km of Centre National du Costume de Scene and 22 km of Moulins Cathedral. The place is great, a paradise of pastoral tranquility and of serenity, I am sure it would be difficult to find anything better, unless one travels to a remote island. Well, if you like people, movement and action, this is not the place for you, otherwise it is simply ideal for relaxing and leaving your problems behind! I have spent many holidays in France in similar B&B places, but the owners of Grand Lucay far surpass any I have seen before. Extremely kind and friendly as one rarely, very rarely finds. Thank you!
