There are also many different separate onsen baths which you can have for yourself for 1 hour if you ask. • Food : Overall great, standard Kaiseki meal (served in a dining room where each room is separated by a small movable wooden wall) • Staff : Very helpful and gave me the option to opt out of my room and go for a smaller one (cheaper) since my friend cancelled last moment and I ended up alone. • Location : As you can imagine, a great natural onsen is often in the countryside, you do have a bus that goes from Aso station (Kumamoto) all the way to Hakata station (Fukuoka) which stops by Kurokawa which is helpful. The ryokan's staff also pick you up at the bus stop if you inform them of your arrival time.

Incredible staff who took care of every detail. The location is gorgeous and very close to Mt. Aso and several other natural attractions—perfect for nature lovers. We booked the private onsen several times and really enjoyed it. The breakfast and dinner had a variety of choices we enjoyed. The hotel even let us use purchase our yukata. Great experience!!!
