We stayed at Ttunu House in January 2025, and it was simply incredible! The house is beautiful, lovingly restored, and tastefully furnished. There is truly not a single thing to complain about! The Ttunu House team—Cornelius, Stephen, and Jackson—did everything to make our stay perfect and unforgettable. Stephen cooks whatever guests desire, with only the cost of groceries charged, while the service itself is included. Upon request, we had the best tuna steaks of our lives, served with grilled vegetables and Kachumbari (a Kenyan tomato salad). For those looking for an extraordinary vacation far from tourist hotspots but without sacrificing luxury, Ttunu House is the perfect choice! We would love to come back.

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a private pool, mountain view and a terrace, Milimani Villa-Fully airconditioned Villa is set in Shela. The house is wonderful, spacious, luxury and quiet. Bassam is a great host and the staff are excellent too. We had a great time exploring from here or just enjoying doing nothing much at all. It is a bit outside Shela, but not that far and a nice village walk.

Featuring a swimming pool and tropical gardens, Kijani Hotel is situated on the coast of Lamu Island, along the Indian Ocean. The décor comes with natural handmade furniture, lanterns and ornaments. Kijani is a charming little hotel in Shela, well located to discover the village on foot, and the nearby islands by boat. It has everything one needs for a perfect holiday; provides a quiet and peaceful backdrop. We loved the flexibility of management (even with last minute issues), return boat transfers included in the price, amazing breakfast and restaurant. Fantastic staff (management, reception, cleaning team, restaurant, kitchen, guards, in short: EVERYONE): kind, attentive, all while being respectful of privacy. We have stayed elsewhere in Lamu and Kijani truly stands out. Thank you.

Featuring an outdoor swimming pool, Banana House and Wellness Centre is located in Shela village, Lamu 2.7 km from Gallery Baraka. The property is set 2.8 km from Lamu Fort. My stay in Lamu was truly amazing. The open space and perfect climate felt like paradise. I never wanted to get up from the hammock. Kamala, Jacky, and Jamil were great hosts, offering plenty of support throughout my stay. Although I was tempted to try other dining options, I found myself obsessed with the fantastic food served here. It was an incredibly relaxing and memorable holiday, and I hope to return again in the future.

Situated within 200 metres of 18th Century Swahili House Museum and 200 metres of Lamu Museum, Pwani House - Lamu Seafront features rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Lamu. We had an amazing stay at Pwani House! Zion was an incredible host — so warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The house itself is a beautiful traditional Swahili home, full of charm and character. We especially loved the balcony and the rooftop terrace. Watching the sunrise from there, with the sea breeze and the sound of the ocean, was absolutely unforgettable. It was the perfect place to relax and soak in the true Lamu atmosphere. Highly recommended — we would definitely stay here again!
