You pay no taxes in Jersey City, so the price on the shelf is the final price you pay. That is why loads of New Yorkers come her for their weekly or monthly supplies. The "breakfast" which is provided by the hotel is just water and a few sweet snacks in a paper bag and it's meant that way. It is really unfortunate that some people complain about that. With all the quality products from Aldi, you can prepare your own proper meal. The elevators do not always work properly but you can get used to that and it is not a problem at all:) As far as public transport goes, it is really easy to get from and to Manhattan (white vans go form Port Authority stop at 41st Street- $3,50). You can always use a regular bus at $4,50 - depart form the upper level at Port Authority building. The vans stop along the main road so there is no stress you'll be late. Besides, there will probably be people waiting for it every time you want to catch it. It takes 5-8 minutes to get to the stop, and the area is absolutely safe, although looks quite rough. On the whole, the hotel is a really good choice if you don't want to spend al lot on accommodation and eat good quality food for a fraction of what you would normally pay downtown. Affordable, pleasant, conveniently located, easy to get to. Definitely one of the best options to choose.
