The DE-ticket works between Ehrwald and Garmish, despite that Ehrwald is in Austria, so one can travel freely there. The Zugspitze, Sonnenspitze and other locations are reachable by train/bus/cable car from Ehrwald. The Seebensee is fantastic lake, one can get there by a bus+cable car and using and normal road or a bus and a rather difficult via ferrata. Also there is an indoor climbing (about 15m high) gym with 4 automatic belaying stations in Ehrwald, so one can climb even during bad weather conditions.Guest review byPavelGermany - 6.0

From a skiing perspective, it's not the most exciting area. Although it's really easy to reach (we drove in 7,5 hours from the middle of the Netherlands), the town is a bit lower and therefore snow conditions are not perfect in the valley. Mountain snow conditions were a lot better. We loved staying in an apartment in the same building that the family was living in, in a rural location close to hiking. The family was wonderful and told us much about the area which was fascinating to us. We had a car, so that was very good since there are not many options for public transportation from the little village. Our main goal was to visit the Tannheim area with its famous cow parade every September which we did. Service beyond all expectations.
Service beyond all expectations. Passing through and stopped in Lermoos to charge the electric car and spend the night. The Silence-Sporthotel Zugspitze was chosen at random. But... Fantastic service; on arrival we were welcomed, shown to a large and nice room, presented menu and informed that our dog was welcome in the restaurant. Lovely food and excellent service; buffet starter, good soup and perfectly cooked lamb. Exceptional service from the waiters. Amazing.
