We decided to stay an extra day, and our host at Reception that morning (Andy) was very happy to hear it. Since we had a 2-night stay, he gave us free bus passes to Innsbruck. The bus stop is a one-minute walk away - very convenient and with a beautiful view! We enjoyed a beautiful Spring day exploring Innsbruck center and river areas. We also really enjoyed the cozy and stylish restaurant on-site. The traditional trout platter was exceptional, with parsley potatoes in burnt butter that I couldn't stop eating, even though I was completely stuffed! Great salads, too! Very nice breakfast in the atrium room, too. Overall, Stadhotel Kramer was EXACTLY the kind of place we wanted to enjoy while in Austria - a family-run business, an on-site restaurant with delicious local foods, and warm and friendly hosts. Sankt Stefan an der Gail is a beautiful small village in the Gail valley. Great hiking places are nearby, like the Dobratsch national park, the Windische Höhe and the Nassfeld pass among others. Last year I was there before Christmas and now between Xmas and New Year's Eve. During both stay the town had beautiful Christmas decoraitons and atmosphere. People were iceskating by the main street. The small temporaty pubs in the main street were charming and attractive. It is great to walk cross or along the river dividing the town.
