Cowes is a lovely place.

Cowes is a lovely place. Just enough to do, without feeling overwhelmed with choice. A place where you can be busy or you can laze away a day. Plenty of shops, a few galleries and things for the kids like bowling, go karts and movies.

Lakes entrance is a beautiful place to visit if you need a breath of fresh air and to step away from everyday life. There are many fun activities to participate in over there, and even along the way up to lakes entrance such as the Metung Hot Springs in Metung. Very family friendly and a relaxing atmosphere if you need a small holiday break but without breaking the budget and sorting the hassle that is flying overseas.

Sale is a lovely town, not crowded with tourists and offers wonderful walks through the extensively restored Wetlands - teaming with birdlife and varied vegetation. The wild 90-Mile Beach is only a 40 minute drive away. The Botanical Gardens are also a delight, while the Sale Art Gallery, while not extensive, has a varied and high-quality collection of works by Gippsland artists.

A rural city with a close relationship to lignite-powered electricity generation. If it weren't for towns like Traralgon, this country would still be in the 19th century. The power stations are very interesting and informative to visit and show you how cohesive the local community is. It makes you proud to be Australian.

Warragul is a practical town with all the big brands...

Warragul is a practical town with all the big brands available. It also is closely located to nearby forests and mountains, upper reaches of the Yarra Valley, Lake Mountain for fun in the snow and Mt Baw Baw for skiing. Close access to M1 freeway to East Gippsland. Warragul people are down to earth working people traditionally. Yet the range of restaurants attract hospitality workers from diverse ages and backgrounds of course.

It's a short walk to everything.

It's a short walk to everything. The local supermarket and shops were stocked with everything you could need, and the local pubs and restaurants had a range of cuisines to choose from. The beaches where calm, and great for kids, as were the rock pools (where we saw a large seal), and the surf beach was a lot better for those wanting to actually surf.

Metung is about half an hour to drive to the other main towns for restuarants and other tourist attractions, etc. There are lots of great restaurants in Lakes Entrance - including Sodafish. Highly recommend visiting Raymond Island near Paynesville too.

it is the starting point for hikes walks sitting on a beach and going on a boat trip around Tidal River - could not believe the amount of camping spaces at Tidal River. If anyone has a chance please do the boat ride - amazing we had a very calm sunny day out on the Bass Strait.
