"This was my first time in Kota Kinabalu. I came for a program, but since I arrived earlier, I decided to explore KK and Kundasang. Even though it was a last-minute booking with Wisata Travel Agency, the accommodation and guide they arranged were excellent. ✨ Favourite places: In KK, I enjoyed the city vibes and food around 1Borneo Mall. In Kundasang, the highlights were the fish spa, rabbit farm, Desa Dairy Farm, and of course a stop at Pekan Nabalu — a picturesque spot with breathtaking views of Mount Kinabalu and local stalls selling souvenirs and snacks. 🍴 Where I ate: One memorable stop was trying the famous kepak ayam madu Wak Ali — really delicious! Around KK, it was easy to find food because there are so many choices, from local eateries to restaurants. 🚗 Getting around KK: With a guide from the travel agency, it was very convenient. The city is easy to move around with transport arranged, and going up to Kundasang was smooth with their service. 💑 For young couples: I’d recommend Kundasang as a must — the dairy farm, the mountain views, Pekan Nabalu, and even simple stops like the fish spa and rabbit farm create great memories. KK city itself is lively with shopping, cafes, and seaside views. It’s a good mix of nature and city for couples. Overall, it was a short but meaningful trip, and I’ll remember it as one of the best last-minute adventures I’ve had."

"Nice city with a lot of attractions in the city itself and the surrounding area. The nicest surprise is the musical fountain show each evening at Darul Hana bridge. We could have stayed an extra night, as there were a few more attractions worth exploring. We did half day trips to Bako National Park and the Sarawak Cultural Village and strolled through the old city and along the waterfront. Would recommend visiting, as it probably has more to offer than the more popular Kota Kinabalu."

One of 241 reviews:
"Our family went to Sandakan to do a 3D2N river experience. We saw 4 of the big 5 Kinbatangan River has to offer - only the pygmy elephant remaining elusive. We booked our river experience through Seekie Sophie. This turned out to be amazing. The accommodation was great. Our family stayed in a 6-bed dorm with two other foreign girls. Following this we visited the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. This is a MUST DO! if you love wildlife. The Sun Bear Conservation Centre is across the road and is convenient to visit. Nice to walk through the jungle on the boardwalk but not an essential activity to do. It's more zoo-like and not my cup of tea really. If you only want to do these two activities, it is better to stay in Sepilok itself. I wish I had planned my trip better as I would have liked to have visited Turtle Islands National Park - you need to travel out there, stay a night and come back the following morning. I also would have liked to have visited Gomantong Caves. Both of these places were highly recommended by other travellers who had visited them. Sandakan is fairly central to all these places and Grab is a good way to get around. Be prepared for rough roads and crazy drivers on them. Adds to the adventure! Going to Sandakan is a bit like acting in your own Indiana Jones movie . . . If, like us, you take your children with you and you love Star Wars... check out The Skywalker Lounge at the Elopura hotel. The food is good with plenty of options, but it is the Star Wars figurines that are the coolest thing about this place."

"Sibu is a charming riverside town in Sarawak with a laid-back feel. Love the local food scene, especially kampua mee, a local must try noodle and kompia, a local savoury pastry also must try! People are friendly and it’s a great base to experience authentic Foochow culture. Riverfront is nice for evening walks, central market is lively, and the people are welcoming. Great spot to experience real Sarawak life away from the crowds."

"Beautiful, clean, peaceful country with lovely people. Everything is closeby for a quick tourist visit to mosques, palace, night market and mall. I would love to go back again for an overnight stop over, only because Royal Brunei is an outstanding airline. Very easy to navigate as its a small airport, small city, no traffic. I was respectful with their custom when I opened my wine which I bought from my previous destination, you can drink wine - you just have to bring your own as they don't sell alcohol in Brunei."

I recently stayed at Ritz Residence, IMAGO Mall (Loft B) and the experience was nothing short of outstanding. The moment I entered, I was greeted by an atmosphere of pure cleanliness and refined comfort. Every part of the residence was impeccably maintained — spotless floors, fresh linens, and a level of care that truly sets it apart. What impressed me most was how generous they were with amenities. From high-quality toiletries to thoughtful touches that made the stay smoother and more enjoyable, everything was well-planned and top-notch. Even without kitchen facilities, the residence offered more than enough luxury and convenience to ensure a seamless stay. The rooms were beautifully designed, spacious, and undeniably elegant. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, giving me some of the best sleep I’ve had in a long time. Every detail — from the décor to the lighting and premium furnishings — contributed to a truly elevated experience.

There’s not a lot to do or see in Sempora. It’s a jump off spot to local diving and islands. The best coffee I found is at McDonalds. Sukau is very quiet with friendly local people.

Sukau is very quiet with friendly local people. You cannot find a bar or restaurant apart from where you are staying. There is no alcohol available due to their Muslim religion, however you can bring your own but also bring an esky. It is very unspoiled and a nice place to relax and enjoy the peace of the jungle. The boat tours are 3 times per day, where you can see many different birds, monkeys and if you are lucky like we were, the pygmy elephants. All of this is seen from a narrow boat on the river holding around 10 people. I highly recommend Sukau and particularly the Tommanggong River B&B. The accommodation for 2 was around AUS$50 /night and the tours approx AUS$25/person. The guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the river, plants and animals. I highly recommend this tour for people of all ages and origins.

Bought my Australian friend to view the Kundasang War Memorial, was a good place to learn about history and enjoy the fresh air and amazing views of the surrounding area. We ate sayap (Sabah-style BBQ honey chicken wings) and had a walkaround at the local markets selling various veges and fruits. Walking alongside the locals really gave a huge sneak peek into the lives of the people there. Rent a car if you wanna visit Kundasang fully, I am a local who only brought my foreign friend and we all had an amazing time.

Immigration counter for elderly[>60years] & parent with infant was miss-used; probably should station an officer to monitor it. I decided to take local taxi from airport to Dynasty Hotel, instead of booking 'GRAB' or 'MAXIMM'; it was a mistake...as I have to wait nearly one hour; probably at night [2030], taxi are scarce; anyway it was a nice short journey; In the morning,[0830] I took a "GRAB" tp Piasau industrial area & it picked me up very fast; I noticed the roads are clean. no debris sighted.
