Casa Ricky's in Orange Walk provides adults only accommodations with free bikes, a shared lounge and a garden. Featuring luggage storage space, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Rick is lovely and super helpful - let me and 2 other guests use the TV in the apartment room to watch the World Cup final as it was on at 9am! Rick also told me about a great cheap restaurant around the corner - ask him if you are there on a weekend! The place is a few minutes walk from the bus station and near the centre square of the town. Safe area, bed comfortable and shared bathroom is clean. Also booked the Lamanai tour through Rick which was great. Really recommend this place!

Being surrounded by wildlife.....We spotted lots of cool animals just sitting on the veranda of our room. The staff all went above and beyond to make stay extra special as well.
Becks Bed & Breakfast is located in Crooked Tree, 29 mi from Belize City. Free private parking is available on site. Every room comes with a flat-screen TV and a seating area. Robert and his wife are wonderful! I felt welcome the minute I pulled up to the B&B. My room was clean, large, and comfortable. The property is secluded and quiet. Breakfast was fantastic. If I pass through Crooked Tree again, I will definitely stay here again.
Located in Bermudian Landing, 27 miles from Belize City, Nature Resort has a garden and free WiFi. Some units are air-conditioned and include a patio and/or a balcony, as well as a seating area. Great cultural experience. Host and family welcomed us like family. Howler monkeys just across street. Exceptional!!
Located in the middle of the jungle outside of Maskall Village in Belize, this property features an on-site helicopter for tours, free Wi-Fi and a spa. We loved everything. The decor and surroundings were absolutely gorgeous and the staff an owners were beyond kind!
On the Belize River in Burrell Boom, this eco-friendly resort with outdoor swimming pool features free Wi-Fi and free bicycles. Welcoming rum punch was the best I have ever had. Original Belizean breakfast, beans and fry jacks. Mrs. Ev made the best fry jacks and beans. We asked for homemade hot sauce and Mrs. Ev made sure we had some. They treated us like family. Every morning the hotel manager would ask if we were enjoying our stay or if we needing anything to make or stay more pleasant. The entire Black Orchid staff was excellent, warm, and friendly. The rooms were clean and quiet; the beds were comfortable. The pool was great for my grand kids to cool after a long day. The scenery was gorgeous, we even got to see howler monkeys, iguanas, and toucans on the property. It was the best place we stayed at while we were in Belize, and when I come to visit again that will definitely stay there!
We didn't actually get into town at all. We arrived at the airport where the people from Lamanai Landing picked us up and took us directly to the hotel, which is out in the countryside. The only parts of Orange Walk we saw were the streets leading to the bus station as we were leaving. My general overall impression of the town was that it was the center of a very poor economic area, consequently, other than the trip to the ruins, probably did not have the potential for attracting tourism that other areas have. Lamanai Landing itself is a lovely facility with friendly, knowledgeable management and staff. It is clean and well maintained and has effective WiFi. We ate only at the hotel. Its biggest disadvantage is that it does not have some of the more recent conveniences, like an ATM machine, regular shuttle service (probably does not get enough traffic to warrant one), desk specializing whatever attractions ARE available (if any) and arranging tours or appointments to visit them, etc. For instance, it seems bird-watching trips on the river might be a viable attraction for a certain type of visitors. There is nothing I would really avoid since at this point in time I did not have the opportunity to experience much in the immediate confines of Orange Walk and vicinity.
Orange walk is a fertile area of Belize. The shopping is very inexpensive here. We ate at Lees Chinese Restaurant it was excellent. Bananas were 10 for a Bz $. Reyes and Sons do trips down the river to Laminae it is better to book directly with them. Our guide was amazing, he showed us many birds on the way down the river and told us about their habits. He was warm and friendly with a pleasant voice.
I found Orange Walk a great location to settle for a few days as it allowed me a very nice place to stay and easy and comfortable access to the surrounding locations I wanted to visit.

Super friendly and helpful host, beautiful, blossoming garden, rooms are simple but clean. Ricky is currently working on the property and making improvements. The loveliness of the people (Ricky, his friends, but also people in Orange Walk Town in general) made the stay special! Bicycle rental for free and free laundry service for guests who stay more than 2 nights. Excellent value for money!!
